WASHINGTON, DC: Former president Barack Obama posted a heartfelt message for his wife Michelle Obama on Valentine's Day, sharing a heartfelt message about their 32-year marriage.

His post came amid ongoing speculation about their relationship which was fueled by Michelle's absence from recent public events.

Michelle Obama also posted a similar picture on social media to reinforce their bond and dispel the rumors surrounding their marriage.

Barack Obama says Michelle Obama 'still takes my breath away'

Barack Obama posted a selfie with his wife Michelle on X. "Thirty-two years together and you still take my breath away. Happy Valentine’s Day, @MichelleObama!" the former president shared.

Michelle Obama shared the same picture on Instagram, expressing her love for her husband.

"If there’s one person I can always count on, it’s you, @BarackObama. You’re my rock. Always have been. Always will be. Happy Valentine’s Day, honey!" Michelle wrote.

Michelle Obama's absence from public events fuels divorce rumors

Speculation about their marriage intensified due to Michelle Obama's absence from key events.

One notable instance was President Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20.

Before that, Michelle was also missing from the state funeral of former president Jimmy Carter in Washington, DC, on January 9, 2025.

At the funeral, Barack Obama sat beside President Donald Trump, former president George W Bush, and former president Bill Clinton.

Michelle’s absence was explained as a "scheduling conflict," but the clarification did little to stop online discussions about possible marital issues.

Internet reacts to Barack and Michelle Obama's split rumors

Social media users quickly reacted to the couple's Valentine's Day tributes, with some expressing admiration and others reviving speculation. "What a great comeback...love that. You both enjoy," wrote one user on X.

Some questioned previous rumors, with one writing, "What happened to the divorce? Wasn’t Barack having an affair with Jennifer Aniston?"

Others praised the couple's long-standing relationship, with one saying, "Thank you both Obamas for 8 scandal-free years and a lifetime of relationship goals."

However, there were also critical comments about Michelle Obama's appearance in the shared photo. "Two guys," wrote one commenter. Another remarked, "Oh my god I thought this was a joke. What happened to her face?"

Despite the mixed reactions, the couple's posts appeared to put an end to speculation, reaffirming their strong bond after more than three decades together.
