WASHINGTON, DC: Former first lady Michelle Obama will be releasing the sequel to her book ‘The Light We Carry’ in December this year.

The book titled ‘OVERCOMING: A Workbook’, which is being published by Crown Publishing Group, is intended to help readers “unlock your power” through "thoughtful activities, reflective writing prompts, and habit tracking tools."

Obama expressed her excitement about her upcoming book release on Instagram and mentioned how the book encourages readers to “show up in your relationships, and share your whole self with others.”

On the other hand, former first lady Melania Trump will release her debut memoir titled ‘Melania’ on September 24, the Daily Beast reported.

It’ll be interesting to see which former first lady rises to the top in book sales as the two are poised to go head-to-head at the end of the year for the bestseller tag.

All about Melania Trump's memoir

On Thursday, July 25, Melania Trump, the third wife of former president Donald Trump, announced through her office that her first memoir will be released this fall, according to The Guardian.

In the memoir, Melania “invites readers into her world, offering an intimate portrait of a woman who has lived an extraordinary life,” sharing “personal stories and family photos she has never before shared with the public.”

The memoir is being billed by her office as “a powerful and inspiring story of a woman who has carved her own path, overcome adversity and defined personal excellence.”

Since her husband announced his presidential candidacy in 2016, Melania Trump has remained an enigmatic figure. As the United States First Lady, she focused on her ‘Be Best’ initiative, aimed at supporting the “social, emotional and physical health of children” while also prioritizing the upbringing of her son Barron.

Although Melania made appearances at her husband's 2024 campaign launch event and the closing night of the recent Republican National Convention, she has largely stayed away from the campaign trail. Her decision not to deliver a speech at this year's convention was a departure from the tradition for candidates' spouses, in contrast to the 2016 and 2020 GOP gatherings.

The memoir will be available in two versions, according to Melania Trump’s office. The collector's edition, priced at $150, will be “in full color throughout, with each copy signed by the author.”

Additionally, there is a memoir edition, 304 pages long, featuring 48 pages of previously unreleased photographs, with a listing price of $40, and signed copies available for $75.

There has been much conjecture about how Melania Trump's narrative will be recounted in her upcoming debut memoir following the apparent instance of her delivering a 2016 RNC speech that closely mirrored one previously given by Michelle Obama at the DNC in 2008.

Melania Trump mocked as Michelle Obama announces release of new book

Netizens criticized former first lady Melania Trump after Michelle Obama announced her upcoming book titled 'OVERCOMING: A Workbook', releasing at the end of this year.

One X user remarked, "So this comes down to truth versus plagiarism. I'm going with Obama because she speaks the truth."

Another user said, "No competition, Melania book will be lies."

One person claimed, "The RNC will just buy up Melania's book just like they did with Don Jr."

Another wrote, "Shouldn’t be much of a competition, I wouldn’t think. Michelle Obama’s would be the intelligent read."

One individual claimed, "There is no competition. Any book written by the glorified escort wife of an orange liar, racist, s**ual predator and thief will fail."

One individual tweeted, "People will read Michelle Obama's book. And she wrote it."
