WASHINGTON, DC: A video of Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, Vice President Kamala Harris' husband, is circulating online. In the video, he responds to former President Donald Trump's criticism of her policies under the Biden administration, according to TOI.

This video draws comparisons between the spouses of potential presidential candidates, with Kamala Harris anticipated to be the Democratic nominee facing off against the 78-year-old MAGA strongman in the November general election.

Following President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 race, and his subsequent endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris on Sunday, July 21, former President Trump has launched a series of attacks against the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate.

First Lady Dr Jill Biden has been a supportive partner to the 81-year-old President, just as Doug Emhoff has been for Vice President Kamala Harris.

In contrast, former First Lady Melania Trump has maintained a relatively low profile during the 2024 election campaign.

Melania Trump made a rare appearance at the Republican National Convention last week, having been largely absent for some time except for a statement she issued after an attempt on her husband's life.

What did Doug Emhoff say regarding Trump’s attacks against his wife Kamala Harris?

An interviewer asked VP Harris’ husband, “President Trump has already started attacking the Vice President, your reaction to the names he's already calling her?”

“That's all he's got,” Emhoff remarked. “Look, you heard the Vice President yesterday making the case against Donald Trump very clearly, laid out the case directly and in a compelling fashion.”

“But she also laid out a vision for the future, a vision where there's freedom, where we're not having to talk about these issues of today in this post-Dobbs hellscape that Donald Trump created,” he said.

“So we need to, yes, we're going to prosecute the case against Donald Trump and his lies, his gaslighting, during Covid, the dereliction of duty, inciting an insurrection, and all those other things. We're going to make that very clear. She's going to be able to make that case,” he added.

Emhoff continued, “But we're also going to move on from this type of environment, this Dobbs, where freedoms are taken away, where autonomy is taken away, where they're telling you ‘You can't read this book.’ They're telling you ‘You can't learn these facts.’ They're telling you ‘You can't vote.’ All that is going to change, and it must change.”

“You see the enthusiasm. You see the excitement. You saw the money raised. You saw the party coalesce. You saw the broad base of support that she had in just one or two days because she's talking about an America that we all have a place in,” he asserted.

The 59-year-old recalled his reaction to President Joe Biden’s call to inform his vice president about his exit from the 2024 race, saying, “And that's why Kamala Harris, who I'm so proud of, I'm also so proud of the president, I got choked up yesterday in Wilmington when he called in. All of us did. What a great man. Love Joe Biden.”

Emhoff said in conclusion, “But Kamala Harris has united the party. She's going to unite the country. She's going to earn this nomination. You see that happening. And she's going to win this election. Thank you.”

If Vice President Kamala Harris wins the 2024 presidential election, Doug Emhoff will become the first-ever First Gentleman of the United States.

A distinguished attorney, Doug Emhoff was born in Brooklyn and raised in New Jersey and California. Doug, who is Jewish, first met Kamala Harris in 2013 through a blind date arranged by a mutual acquaintance.

Doug’s first marriage to Kerstin Emhoff lasted 16 years, from 1992 to 2008, and together they have two children, Cole and Ella.
