Michelle Trachtenberg fans fume as she is left out of Oscars 2025 In Memoriam segment: 'So disrespectful'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Fans of Michelle Trachtenberg took to social media to express their disappointment after the actress was left out of the In Memoriam segment at the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 2, as reported by The New York Post.

The 'EuroTrip' star was discovered dead at her Manhattan apartment on February 26. She was 39.

Fans were also swift to point out the omission of Shannen Doherty and Tony Todd from the In Memoriam segment, which honors individuals from the industry who have died over the last year. 

Internet slams Oscars for not including Michelle Trachtenberg in the In Memoriam segment

One of the actress' fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to write, "Michelle trachtenberg not being mentioned in the in memoriam section of the oscars is upsetting , you are and will remain so so loved and admired Michelle."

Another said, "It’s shameful that the #Oscars didn’t include Michelle Trachtenberg in their memorial montage of all the actors/actresses who have passed within the year!!!!"

"Did they really not even include Michelle Trachtenberg in the ‘In Memoriam’ for tonight’s Oscars??? That’s icky," a person declared, while someone else added, "Oh f*** yall for not including michelle trachtenberg. so disrespectful." 

"NO michelle trachtenberg??? NO shannen Doherty ??? NO Tony Todd???? i’m SICK," another comment read. 

One more expressed, "The Oscars not honoring Michelle Trachtenberg in the memoriam is absolutely disgusting," while another fan added, "Michelle Trachtenberg deserved to be shown and remembered in that Oscar’s in memoriam. That was actually so disrespectful and bulls**t @TheAcademy what the f***."

"Wait why wasn’t Michelle Trachtenberg and shannen doherty in the Oscar’s memorial thing?" a person wondered. "Fine I'll give her the flowers she deserved.. that was really disrespectful not giving Michelle Trachtenberg her place on the memoriam for the #Oscars2025," one more said. 

Pointing out Gene Hackman's inclusion in the segment, a fan wrote, "Why didn’t they include Michelle Trachtenberg in the In Memoriam? It wouldn’t be due to time constraints because they added Gene Hackman who died one day after her. #Oscars RIP Michelle!"

Michelle Trachtenberg's cause of death was ruled 'undetermined'

Michelle Trachtenberg’s fans were left devastated last week when the news of her death was revealed.

The 'Ice Princess' actress was found unconscious and unresponsive in her Manhattan apartment by her mother, Lana Trachtenberg, and she was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.

The cause of her death was ruled "undetermined" as her family declined to have an autopsy conducted on her body, according to the New York City Chief Medical Examiner's Office.

However, it has been speculated that her body may not have accepted a liver transplant she had undergone some time ago.

Following her death, Trachtenberg's representative, Gary Mantoosh, said in a statement, "It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away. The family requests privacy for their loss."
