Taylor Swift's romance with Travis Kelce generated 138 tons CO2 in 3 months report says
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift’s blossoming romance with NFL star Travis Kelce has come at a steep cost to the environment, with the pop star’s private jet flights to visit her new beau generating an estimated 138 tons of planet-warming carbon dioxide emissions over the past three months alone, according to a report by Daily Mail.

Taylor Swift's jet-setting burned through 12,622 gallons of fuel in last three months
According to tracking data compiled by the Instagram account 'Taylor Swift’s Jets', the singer’s jet-setting between concert stops in South America and Kansas City, where Kelce lives, has used up 12,622 gallons of fuel since September, with an estimated price tag nearing $71,000.
Her longest trip to date saw Swift travel from Sao Paolo, Brazil to Kansas City, with a layover in Tampa, Florida. That journey alone was responsible for burning through 4,151 gallons of jet fuel, with an estimated carbon cost of over $23,000.
Aviation emissions have an outsized environmental impact due to the greenhouse gases and particle pollution they generate high up in the atmosphere. To offset the carbon footprint left by her travels since September, Swift would need to plant approximately 2,282 trees and wait 10 years for them to absorb an equivalent amount of CO2.

The revelations come a year after Swift was named 2022’s biggest celebrity polluter for her extensive private jet use, a dubious honor it appears she is on track to retain in 2023. The singer owns two private jets registered under corporations tied to her production company.
While a spokesperson for Swift claimed she often allows others to use her $80 million Dassault Falcon 7X jet, flight tracking data shows she has been onboard for many of the trips to and from Kansas City since her relationship with Kelce became public.
Sources close to Swift say she has essentially moved into the NFL star’s Kansas City mansion temporarily as their romance intensifies.
With Swift’s worldwide concert tour stretching into 2024 with stops planned across Europe, Asia and Australia, her travel schedule shows no signs of slowing down. She also plans to tour the U.S. again next year.
A spokesperson recently stated Swift “purchased more than double the carbon credits needed to offset all tour travel,” suggesting these can account for her personal trips as well.
Taylor Swift's staggering carbon emissions draws internet's ire
The revelations of Swift’s staggering carbon emissions from her flights lit up social media, with many commenters and fans accusing the pop star of hypocritical behavior.
"More like coal mate, amirite?" quipped one user, while another cynically commented, "But she's going to lecture you."
The internet echoed a sentiment of disillusionment, with one individual noting, "Love this. Caring for the environment when it’s convenient." Another skeptic forecasted, "He’ll be a song this time next year."
A fifth user expressed a prevalent sentiment, exclaiming, "But but but I thought Taylor cared about the environment and climate change! Hypocrite!"
