LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A surprise leadership shakeup at X (formerly Twitter) has prompted widespread speculation about who might take the reins next, and YouTube megastar MrBeast is throwing his hat in the ring.
On Wednesday, July 9, outgoing CEO Linda Yaccarino officially announced her resignation after nearly two years leading the Elon Musk-owned platform.
The unexpected move triggered a flood of reactions across X, including from MrBeast, who publicly offered to take over.

She added, “I’m incredibly proud of the X team — the historic business turn around we have accomplished together has been nothing short of remarkable. X is truly a digital town square for all voices and the world’s most powerful culture signal.”
Yaccarino did not specify a reason for her departure. Musk simply replied to her post, “Thank you for your contributions.”
Among the high-profile responses to Yaccarino’s announcement was MrBeast, the world’s most-subscribed independent YouTuber, who commented directly, “I will fill the roll.”
His offer immediately garnered attention from fans and tech-watchers alike, with many tagging Musk and speculating on the seriousness of the proposal. The exchange rekindled memories of a 2022 post where MrBeast asked Musk if he could be CEO of Twitter, to which Musk replied, “It’s not out of the question.

“The roll? You applying at Cinnabon?”
A blunt reply stated, “Illiterate? It’s ‘role.”
And a more critical voice wrote, “For God's sake, hell no. Even all controversies aside, the way you're on YouTube already and with that fiasco you tried to pull a few weeks ago, you'd have the app in flames in a matter of weeks.”

From YouTube king to business mogul: MrBeast builds $85M empire beyond the screen
MrBeast, the world’s most-subscribed YouTube creator, is far more than an internet entertainer. The 26-year-old entrepreneur, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has turned viral videos into a sprawling business empire.
Known for high-budget stunts like recreating 'Squid Game' and burying himself alive in a coffin for a week, the YouTuber has amassed over 269 million subscribers and become a magnet for brand deals and streaming contracts.
YouTube’s ringmaster of challenges is again the most followed person on social media.
His empire now spans beyond digital content into physical products and media, including his snack company 'Feastables', the virtual fast-food brand 'MrBeast Burger', and an original game show, 'Beast Games', recently renewed for two seasons on Amazon Prime.
As of June 16, 2025, Forbes pegs his net worth at $85 million.

MrBeast’s growing interest in X sparks speculation as CEO search begins amid Musk’s ‘Everything App’ vision
His ambitions appear to be growing further, with a clear interest in X, where he’s recently begun uploading videos as part of a strategy to expand reach among older US audiences.

Marc Hustvedt, president of MrBeast, explained at the Cannes Lions festival that X is being used as a “second content distribution window” for MrBeast videos after their initial YouTube release. The move, he said, is driven by X’s more American and older user base, segments that are harder to reach through YouTube alone.
“X actually helps to increase our US audience, and that's always one thing that we struggle with,” Hustvedt said. “We're growing so much because the [worldwide audience] is growing. But you still have these [questions] of, ‘How big was the US audience?’”
He also noted the consistency and transparency of YouTube’s revenue-sharing model, but suggested that X’s resurgence under Elon Musk presented a new opportunity: “And then here comes X.”
MrBeast’s decision to engage directly with X users, and even publicly joke about wanting the CEO job, may signal more than just online banter.
As of Thursday, no official replacement has been named. The search for a new CEO comes at a crucial time for X, which has been undergoing aggressive restructuring and rebranding efforts since Musk’s takeover.
The company's long-term vision, described by Musk as building the “Everything App,” remains in development.
