WASHINGTON, DC: A day before Washington and Tehran announced a ceasefire, former Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene called for President Donald Trump to be removed from office under the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution.

The Georgia Republican’s outburst came Tuesday, after Trump took to Truth Social and warned that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again” if Tehran failed to meet his 8 p.m. EST deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a chokepoint carrying a significant share of the world’s oil.

Greene, once a close ally of Trump before a messy split that led to her early resignation, blasted the President’s rhetoric as “evil and madness.”

“25TH AMENDMENT!!! Not a single bomb has dropped on America. We cannot kill an entire civilization,” Greene wrote on X, responding to Trump’s post.

Democrat Rep. Mark Pocan piled on the same morning.

“25th Amendment RIGHT NOW! Trump is too unhinged, dangerous, and deranged to have the nuclear codes!” Pocan wrote on X.

Ceasefire clock ticks after weeks of threats

The calls for removal landed just a day before the U.S. and Iran agreed to a conditional, two-week ceasefire, temporarily halting nearly 40 days of fighting under Operation Epic Fury.

Trump said the U.S. would suspend bombing and military strikes for two weeks, but only if Iran immediately reopened the Strait of Hormuz to safe international shipping.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that if attacks against Iran stopped, its armed forces would stand down and allow coordinated safe passage through the vital waterway, which handles roughly 20% of global oil flow.

Protests that began in Tehran on December 28 over worsening economic conditions escalated into one of the deadliest anti-government uprisings in the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Iranian authorities say at least 3,117 people were killed, while human rights groups estimate the toll could reach 6,000 or more and warn it may rise once internet blackouts are lifted. The ceasefire came after Trump repeatedly extended his own deadline while pointing to “productive” negotiations, even as Iranian officials publicly denied talks were happening and floated their own demands.

Over the weekend, the President issued an expletive-filled warning targeting Iranian infrastructure.

“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran,” he wrote early Sunday on Truth Social. “There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F****n’ Strait, you crazy b******s, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.”

Iran’s regime responded by urging civilians to form human chains around power plants in a show of defiance.

Greene’s break with Trump deepens

Greene took particular issue with the timing of Trump’s Sunday post, noting it came on Easter.

“Everyone in his administration that claims to be a Christian needs to fall on their knees and beg forgiveness from God and stop worshipping the President and intervene in Trump’s madness,” she wrote online. “I know all of you and him and he has gone insane, and all of you are complicit.”

The former lawmaker has been openly critical of the Iran operation since the U.S. and Israeli strikes began in late February. According to her, the move undercut Trump’s own campaign promises.

“The American people did not vote for this,” Greene told CNN on March 16. “I went to, I can’t even tell you, countless rallies all over the country for President Trump, campaigning for him and Republicans because we wanted to win, and we said on every single rally stage, ‘No more foreign wars, no more regime change.’”
