WASHINGTON,DC: Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene, on Tuesday, July 7, came to Taylor Swift's defense during an appearance on 'The View', arguing that the president Trump's repeated jabs at the music icon and superstar stem from her enormous popularity.

The Former Congresswoman of Georgia congratulated Swift on her marriage to Travis Kelce while criticizing Trump's recent online attacks.

Appearing on 'The View', Greene opened her remarks by congratulating the newlyweds before taking aim at Trump's recent comments about the singer.

"Well, first of all, congratulations to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce!" Greene said.

She then questioned why Trump continued to target Swift despite her success.

"I thought it was fantastic and I think it's absolutely absurd for the 80-year-old president of the United States to attack one of the most popular musicians and talented women, who's so generous to her staff and takes care of them."

The conversation shifted when co-host Joy Behar suggested Trump believed he was more popular than Swift. Greene didn't dismiss the idea.

"I think that's why he's always picking on her because he would like to be..."

She continued by highlighting Swift's unmatched ability to draw massive crowds.

"Her concerts turn out massive amount of people, a lot more than, tragically, the state fair."

The remark appeared to reference the lower-than-expected attendance reported during Trump's recent Great American State Fair celebrations.

Trump's feud with Taylor Swift

Greene's defense comes just days after the White House repeatedly inserted Trump into the conversation surrounding Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding.

As fans celebrated the couple's ceremony at Madison Square Garden, official White House social media accounts posted multiple Swift-inspired graphics.

One widely shared image mimicked the wedding's "JUST&T MARRIED" display but instead declared: "TRUMP IS STILL YOUR PRESIDENT."

The White House also released "America's Eras Tour"-themed graphics and videos borrowing imagery and phrasing associated with Swift's record-breaking concert tour.

The relationship between Trump and Swift has been strained for years. Swift endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election, prompting Trump to post in all caps: "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"

The singer has rarely addressed Trump directly, although in 2020 she accused him of encouraging division and urged Americans to vote him out of office.
