ARLINGTON, TEXAS: Muhammad Ali's family has publicly criticized Jake Paul and his fight with Mike Tyson, calling the event an "embarrassment" to the sport of boxing.

The fight, which was streamed live on Netflix on Friday, November 15, saw the 27-year-old YouTuber-turned-professional boxer defeat the 58-year-old former heavyweight champion in a spectacle that attracted over 100 million viewers globally.

Muhammad Ali's daughter Rasheda Ali Walsh says he would have been 'mortified' by Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight

Rasheda Ali Walsh, the daughter of Muhammad Ali, spoke to Fox News about how her late father would have likely reacted to the event.

"Boxers didn’t make money, like you know, Tyson’s making. And daddy would have been excited he made that kind of money," said Rasheda, adding, "But daddy would have been mortified," as per Marca.

She went on to recall how, during her father's era, boxers fought not just for fame but for survival. "Boxers didn’t really make that much at that time. They were fighting for their lives," shared the 54-year-old, noting that her father helped make boxing more entertaining and financially rewarding for future fighters.

Rasheda also compared the earnings of her father’s era to those of modern fighters. While Ali earned over $57 million throughout his career, just the gate sales for the Paul vs Tyson fight brought in more than $17 million.

Reports indicated Paul took home over $40 million and Tyson earned nearly $20 million.

Nico Ali Walsh, Muhammad Ali's grandson and a budding boxer, also voiced his disapproval of the fight.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the 24-year-old wrote, "Jake Paul is an embarrassment to this sport. If my grandfather was still around, he’d call him out. Absolutely no shame… Love you Mike."

Ali, who was widely regarded as the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time and nicknamed "The Greatest," died in June 2016 of septic shock.

Jake Paul defeats Mike Tyson in a lackluster bout

The fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson was viewed by many as a spectacle rather than a legitimate boxing match. Critics have questioned whether events like these undermine the integrity of boxing as a sport.

Paul ultimately won by unanimous decision, 79-73, 79-73, 80-72, after eight rather uneventful rounds which lasted for two minutes each. Boos echoed from the crowd at Arlington's AT&T Stadium due to the lack of action.

Tyson, showing his age at 58, landed only 18 of his 97 punches, while Paul’s athleticism allowed him to outlast his more experienced opponent. With the win, Paul’s professional record now stands at 11-1.

While Tyson’s return to the ring thrilled many of his longtime fans, it left others unimpressed. However, when asked if he was officially done boxing, he said he wasn't sure.
