ARLINGTON, TEXAS: The eagerly-awaited boxing match between the iconic Mike Tyson and the YouTube celebrity-turned-boxer Jake Paul became mired in controversy on the night of November 15, igniting a furor among spectators who alleged the bout was "rigged."

The event, broadcast live on Netflix, encountered numerous technical issues, which intensified claims that the fight had been prearranged.

Mike Tyson’s experience falls short as Jake Paul claims controversial victory in Netflix's boxing match

Mike Tyson, often celebrated as one of the all-time boxing greats, stepped into the ring against Jake Paul, anticipating that his extensive experience would eclipse Paul's comparatively brief stint in boxing. Nevertheless, it was Paul who won the match that many have deemed controversial and seemingly staged.

Tyson started off aggressively, but Paul countered with significant strikes to gain momentum. The subsequent rounds proved challenging for Tyson, yet he managed a comeback in the fourth round.

The 58-year-old could not sustain a higher gear for more than a few moments, failing to knock out Paul. Conversely, Paul was also unable to knock out Tyson, with the bout lasting all eight rounds, according to Comicbook.

In the dwindling moments of the eighth and final round, amid the crescendo of boos from the audience, Paul bowed to Tyson in a gesture of respect and the two shared an embrace following the concluding bell.

Paul delivered 278 punches compared to Tyson's 97, successfully landing 78 of them while Tyson connected with only 19.

Despite the defeat, Tyson expressed his desire to keep fighting and suggested WWE star and occasional boxer Logan Paul as a potential adversary.

On the other hand, Paul declined to name his next opponent and appeared disinterested in reaffirming his pre-fight remarks about wanting to challenge the former top-ranked boxer and Mexican icon Canelo Alvarez, CBS Sports reports.

Glitches and streaming errors add to the controversy

Right from the start, the event was plagued by streaming problems. Netflix users experienced technical issues such as buffering, audio dropouts, and unexpected freezes, complicating the viewing experience.

These glitches were especially troubling for those eager to witness every detail of a match already shrouded in doubt due to unclear information about the fighters' skill levels.

Viral 'script' for Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight fuels rumors of a rigged match

A purported script for the Friday night, November 15, fight between Tyson and Paul went viral on social media, causing a stir among boxing enthusiasts.

The fake letter, uploaded by a user with slightly more than 200 followers, circulated in the hours leading up to the scheduled 11 pm fight in Arlington, Texas, as per New York Post.

“Ain’t no way bro,” @gregorxsamsa, whose post about the alleged script received hundreds of reposts, wrote the following. “The script got leaked! #PaulVsTyson Jake Paul gonna knock out Mike Tyson!”

The script suggests that Tyson begins with a strong performance in the first two rounds, but Paul starts to recover, ultimately causing a cut above Tyson's left eye. In the fifth round, Paul reportedly knocked out the 58-year-old Tyson, clinching the win.

The idea was absurd and potentially unlawful; fighting enthusiasts promptly denounced the script as fraudulent.
