CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ignited the Democratic National Convention 2024 with a fervent tribute to President Joe Biden, amid recent speculation about tensions between them.

In her speech, Pelosi extolled Biden's presidency as "one of the most successful presidencies of modern times." This praise came despite recent reports that she had urged Biden to step aside from the 2024 race and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris.

"With the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, we established one of the most successful presidencies of modern times," Pelosi declared.

"And we quickly proved that Democrats deliver: millions of jobs, stronger infrastructure and rural broadband, a Biden child tax credit, honoring our veterans, bold climate action, lowering the cost of prescription drugs-all thanks to President Biden's patriotic vision of a fairer America, doing so with liberty and justice for all. Thank you, Joe," she added.

Nancy Pelosi applauds Kamala Harris and Tim Walz’s ticket

Nancy Pelosi's glowing praise also extended to Vice President Kamala Harris, whom she has long respected. Pelosi described Harris as a leader of "strength, wisdom, and eloquence in policy."

The congresswoman also commended Harris for selecting Tim Walz as her running mate, highlighting his bipartisan appeal and commitment to the Affordable Care Act.

Reflecting on the January 6 insurrection, Pelosi stressed the need to elect leaders who uphold democratic values and condemned the former president's role in the attack.

Joe Biden feels betrayed by Nancy Pelosi's 'ruthless' role to oust him

Despite the public display of unity, Joe Biden is reportedly angered by Nancy Pelosi’s involvement in urging him to step aside in the campaign, especially following his underwhelming debate performance.

Behind closed doors, Pelosi is reported to have actively promoted the idea that Biden should withdraw from the race, a strategy the president considers "ruthless," given their long-standing political alliance.

Pelosi's changing stance was evident in her interviews, where she voiced skepticism about Biden’s campaign. In The New Yorker, she criticized the campaign’s strength and admitted she has “never been impressed” by it.

When asked about the impact on her friendship with Biden, Pelosi acknowledged, “I lose sleep on it, yeah.”

Nancy Pelosi denies influencing Joe Biden’s withdrawal decision

However, in a CBS 'Sunday Morning' interview, Pelosi denied orchestrating any campaign to oust Joe Biden, expressing her deep affection for him.

Pelosi told the news outlet that she “did not call one person” and expressed confidence that the president would make the right decision for the country.

When asked if the rumors about Biden being “furious” with her were accurate, Pelosi replied, “[Biden] knows that I love him very much.”
