WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to Congress on Wednesday, July 24.

Prime Minister Netanyahu delivered a highly anticipated speech to Congress, marking his fourth address to US lawmakers, according to Newsweek.

Before his speech, several Democrats announced their plans to boycott Netanyahu's address, while others attended but later conveyed their disappointment with his remarks.

For instance, Representative Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat from Michigan, prominently displayed signs reading "war criminal" and "guilty of genocide" throughout the speech.

Pelosi, a Democrat from California, also voiced her objections to Netanyahu's address.

What did Nancy Pelosi say regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech?

"Benjamin Netanyahu's presentation in the House Chamber today was by far the worst presentation of any foreign dignitary invited and honored with the privilege of addressing the Congress of the United States," Pelosi posted on X, formerly Twitter, Wednesday afternoon.

The former House Speaker continued, "Many of us who love Israel spent time today listening to Israeli citizens whose families have suffered in the wake of the October 7th Hamas terror attack and kidnappings. These families are asking for a ceasefire deal that will bring the hostages home – and we hope the Prime Minister would spend his time achieving that goal."

In the months following the unexpected attack by Hamas, Prime Minister Netanyahu has been criticized due to the nearly 40,000 Palestinian casualties reported by Gaza's health ministry.

There is also mounting pressure for him to negotiate a peace agreement to secure the release of the 120 remaining hostages. Numerous demonstrations in support of both sides have taken place across the United States since the October 7 attack.

Tensions ran high outside the Congressional chambers during Netanyahu's speech, as the US Capitol Police reported that the crowd gathered near the venue was starting to "become violent."

Several individuals were arrested in the House galleries for suspected unlawful conduct.

Senator Chris Murphy, a Democrat from Connecticut, described the Israeli prime minister's speech as “a setback” for US-Israel relations, suggesting that it was “very clearly” catered to former president Donald Trump, as reported by Punchbowl News journalist Andrew Desiderio.

Some congressional members praised the speech, and there was a standing ovation for Netanyahu after his address.

Not all House Democrats expressed dissatisfaction with Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to Congress, for instance, Senator John Fetterman (D-Penn) emphasized the importance of hearing from the Israeli prime minister.

"That's his right, and it's our responsibility [to listen to] that," he told reporters.

Internet hails Nancy Pelosi for her views

People online supported Rep Nancy Pelosi for shredding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to US Congress in her tweet on Wednesday.

A user wrote, "Bibi is corrupt to the core. The felon Trump of Israel."

Another user said, "I didn't tune in to hear Benjamin Netanyahu's speech today. I'll be listening tonight when a REAL leader and statesman speaks to the nation: Joe Biden. And BTW, Biden picked today to speak in order to take away press coverage from the Israeli prime minister. Good!"

Another user argued, "All his speech was full of lies lies, he is a war criminal."

Finally, this user tweeted, "This is true leadership and brave commentary. Thank you Nancy."
