SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Comedian Kevin Hart earned the ire of basketball fans by announcing the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday, February 16, reported The Express Tribune

The 45-year-old was offered the role of emcee for the event as a part of the league's efforts to increase audience engagement. However, the move spectacularly backfired, with many taking to social media to vent their rage.

Revamped format of NBA All-Star game

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver reportedly introduced a revamped format of the game over the weekend. The All-Star roster was divided into three teams and competed in a four-team tournament alongside a ‘Rising Stars’ squad. While the new format was welcomed by fans, they took umbrage with the entertainment approach of the event.

According to CBS Sports, Hart tried ‘way too hard’ at being the on-court emcee even as the extremely talented players themselves showed a remarkable lack of interest in displaying their craft.

Hart was not the only distraction to trouble fans at the game. The event also featured an intermission segment with the popular YouTuber Mr Beast, where a fan named Jaren made a dunk to win $100,000.
