NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: NewsMax host Carl Higbie was at the receiving end from critics and people online for eating tacos live on air while talking about deporting immigrants.

Higbie tried to mock those who seemed frustrated at President Donald Trump's immigration policies by eating the staple Mexican dish during a recent broadcast of his show.

During the broadcast, Carl Higbie played a TikTok video of a user saying there should be no tacos and no enchiladas, or other Mexican food, for Donald Trump supporters.

The host then mocked the TikTok user and said while eating a taco, "Oh yeah? What are you gonna do? Will you come take it out of my hand? I’m gonna eat half of this plate during the break. Maybe I’ll call the ICE hotline? I don’t know if I’ll have enough time."

He added, "These people broke the law. They broke the law to get here. And once they were here, they broke the law again. Those are serious crimes, folks. Its not like shoplifting. Thats why they gotta go."

Notably, the Newsmax host was a SEAL in 2005 and reached the rank of Petty Officer First Class, according to his profile. Apart from that, he has published two books centering on his experiences as a Navy SEAL.

The Trump administration has ramped up arrests of undocumented migrants in major cities around the US and detained thousands of people, including criminals and those without criminal histories alike, according to BBC.

Meanwhile, more than 3,500 undocumented migrants were arrested since Trump returned to the White House. It includes just over 1,000 on Tuesday, January 28, 969 on Monday, January 27, and 1,179 on Sunday, January 26, according to daily statistics published by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

A user wrote, "This couy is a clown. Shows right now."

Another said, "This is so sad it’s ok because Karma is a B."

A person also stated, "Criminals or not, it’s wildly inappropriate to mock their culture. Shameful."

Another mentioned, "Nothing to see here. Just blatant racism of a white supremacist on a propaganda channel dedicated to recruiting radicalizing and recruiting white nationalist soldiers."

A user also wrote, "This so unprofessional rude and classless… straight clown show…" 

Another commented, "Darn! I was waiting for him to get choked from that taco."

A person remarked, "They think they are so mighty, yet they themselves are not real Americans."

One added, "Just remember without that Latino vote Trump would not be in office, getting what you voted for. Don’t cry you wanted this."
