LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: California Governor Gavin Newsom doubled down on his claim that Donald Trump is suffering from dementia as health conspiracy theories regarding the president gained steam.

The Democrat has been feuding with the MAGA leader for months since the POTUS deployed the National Guard to Los Angeles to quell anti-ICE protests earlier in 2025.

Newsom takes a dig at Trump over his endless rants

Gavin Newsom recently joined critics who have raised concerns about Donald Trump's health, claiming the POTUS has dementia.

The California Governor later doubled down on the initial accusations on X (formerly Twitter) after reposting a clip from Fox News where a panelist criticized his original remarks, where he asked Grok if "people with dementia repeat false things over and over again," to which the AI bot replied, "Yes."

In a move to counter Texas House Republicans’ plan to redraw the state’s congressional maps ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, California Democrats took up a proposed constitutional amendment to temporarily redraw their own congressional maps, potentially creating five additional U.S. House seats for their party. Newsom reposted the clip on Saturday, August 30, and wrote on X, "Doctors have a term for someone who rants endlessly, repeats lies constantly, and grows more incoherent by the day…"

The Democrat also poked fun at Trump's age, writing, "Night night grandpa!" in response to the president's "Good Night" post.

Meanwhile, online speculation has been mounting for months about Trump's health, including his mental acuity.

However, there are currently no substantive reports to support the claim.

Earlier in August, the White House revealed that Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, while explaining his swollen legs, and said his bruised arm was due to rigorous handshakes and the use of aspirin.

Last month, Trump ordered federal troops to Washington, DC, and threatened to deploy them to several other liberal cities to reduce crime, raising concerns about the POTUS' penchant for authoritarian rule.

Meanwhile, tensions between Trump and Newsom escalated recently as Republican governors, such as Texas Governor Greg Abbott, sought the redistricting of their congressional map, which he successfully signed into law, to the dismay of Democrats across the country.

Internet slams Gavin Newsom over Trump dementia claim

Several internet users slammed Gavin Newsom as he doubled down on his claim that President Donald Trump is suffering from dementia amid health conspiracy theories.

A user wrote on X, "Gavin has to act like he's running against a term-limited president because Gavin has a no-good track record to run on," while one added, "Gavin can’t even run his own state. I wouldn’t let him run a football stadium hotdog stand."

A person stated, "NDS- Newsom Derangement Syndrome," whereas someone else mentioned, "You’re projecting your own issues."

One wrote, "This guy creeps me out," while another tweeted, "Yes, I believe Doctors call that condition 'being a Democrat.'"

A person also mentioned, "Doctors have a term for Newsom's press office writers' illness: Liberalism-induced TDS."
