SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams and his wife, Sondra Williams, announced the death of their newborn son, Trenton O'Brien Williams Jr, on Sunday, December 1. 

Sondra took to social media to share a post featuring their baby's heartbeat, sonogram images, and various clips and photos from her pregnancy. She revealed that they were expecting twins but tragically lost one of the babies during the pregnancy.

Sondra Williams pens heartbreaking tribute as she mourns death of newborn son

On Instagram, Sondra Williams wrote, "My Forever Angel, Trenton O’Brien Williams Jr. It’s been extremely hard trying to process the saddest Hello and Goodbye that I’ve ever had to endure."

"Last Sunday night on 11/24/24; I welcomed your lifeless 4lb 8oz 18.5 in long little body at 11:38pm. At only 35 weeks, your impactful and quick arrival didn’t even give mommy time to get an epidural," she added.

Sondra also spoke about the support she received during the heartbreaking moment, as she was surrounded by her sister-in-law, Aunt Katina, and nurse Hannah, "I’m so grateful to have had your Aunt Katina(who also cut your cord) and nurse Hannah by my side. 🙏🏾,"

"After losing your twin early in the pregnancy, I prayed and hoped that your diagnosis of Trisomy 13 wasn't true and wouldn't be the fate of my long awaited beautiful Son-shine. My firstborn and only son, l've always wanted you, but God wanted and needed you more," she wrote showcasing her optimistic side.

Despite the overwhelming sadness of losing their son, Sondra found comfort in the belief that Trenton is now with family members in heaven, "Knowing you are in Heaven with your Great-Aunt Vivian and that you will Always be our Guardian Angel brings me great comfort in the midst of all this sorrow. My heart is heavy."

Sondra and Trent share three daughters, Micah, 15, MaKayla, 11, and Madison, 2. 

Trent was absent from the 49ers' Sunday game against the Buffalo Bills due to an ankle injury. In October, his teammate Charvarius Ward revealed that his daughter, Amani Joy, had died just days before her second birthday.  

Followers offer support and prayers after Sondra Williams announces death of newborn son

Soon after Sondra Williams shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, her followers took to the post's comment section to offer support and prayers. 

One wrote, "I’m sorry for your loss. As a longtime NICU/L&D RN it is incredibly brave if you to share your story with others. I have stood by many families during this extremely difficult time and will lift you up in prayer 🙏."

Another said, "When one momma mourns we all mourn. 😢 May your sweet angel rest in heavenly peace with our Lord," while a person added, "I know these words are inadequate, but I am profoundly sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute to your forever angel."

"As an L&D RN, we shed tears with you…praying for peace and strength for you and your family during this time…💗," shared a follower. One more mourned, "I am so sorry to hear this. I am sending love and prayers to your sweet family. You guys are in my heart."

An individual chimed in, "Sending your whole family 💗, ☮️ & 💪. My heart hurts, deeply, for you all."
