SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA: San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa, who has yet to be fined for wearing a Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat on the field, says he would welcome NFL fine, calling it "well worth it" following Donald Trump's election win.

Last week, Bosa made headlines when he interrupted a teammate’s interview with NBC after the 49ers' victory over the Cowboys, proudly displaying his white MAGA hat with gold lettering, before running off the field.

Later, during a late-night interview, Bosa was asked about his political statement, but kept his response brief, stating he wouldn’t go into too much detail about it.

Nick Bosa not worried about NFL fine for controversial MAGA hat stunt

Nick Bosa, the outspoken NFL defensive player known for his political views, was recently asked about the potential fine he could face for wearing a MAGA hat, while speaking to reporters Wednesday, October 6, the day after Trump defeated Democratic opponent Kamala Harris.

Bosa responded by welcoming the fine, saying, "I haven’t gotten (a fine) yet. But if it comes, it comes." When asked if he knew beforehand that wearing the hat might result in a fine, particularly after interrupting a nationally televised 'Sunday Night Football' post-game interview, he replied, "Yeah, it was well worth it." Bosa defended his decision, stating it was worth the trouble because Donald Trump had won the election.

When reporters continued to press him on his political stance, Bosa remained firm, stating, "I don’t think my position on speaking about it is going to change. Clearly the nation spoke and we got what we got."

One reporter asked if Bosa enjoyed the outcome of the election, with Trump emerging victorious. Bosa briefly responded, "It was fun. It was a good time. Stayed up (to watch it)."

What does the NFL rulebook say about Nick Bosa wearing MAGA hat?

According to the NFL rulebook, players are prohibited from wearing or displaying political messages while representing their team. Since 'MAGA' is a political slogan associated with Donald Trump, the winner of the 2024 presidential election, Nick Bosa could potentially face a fine for wearing a MAGA cap.

As stated in Rule 5, Section 4, Article 1 of the NFL rulebook, players are forbidden from wearing, displaying, or conveying personal messages.

The rule claimed, "Throughout the period on game day that a player is visible to the stadium and television audience (including in pregame warm-ups, in the bench area, and during postgame interviews in the locker room or on the field), players are prohibited from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office."

Internet says Nick Bosa is 'right'

A video of Nick Bosa’s recent interview has quickly gained traction, amassing over 1.1 million views and more than 400 comments. After learning that Bosa welcomed a potential NFL fine for wearing a MAGA hat during the interview, many fans and internet users praised him for his bold stance.

One user declared, "Bosa is one of the goats." Another tweeted, "Nick Bosa is an absolute Boss. He doesn’t give no s**ts what the liberal sports media out there think lol." A user simply agreed, saying, "He's right."

Some fans expressed mixed feelings, with one stating, "I still like Bosa, but he was pretty smug the whole time. He is right, majority of Americans made their thoughts known."

Others were more enthusiastic, with one calling him a "Legend!" Another fan on X shared their approval, saying, "Love him!!! He's absolutely right, too!"

One user found it "ridiculous" that the NFL might fine him for wearing the MAGA hat, adding, "Fining him for wearing a hat is ridiculous compared to other things. Like the NFL stoking division with their two “national” anthems or all the kneeling. NFL themselves are guilty of taking political positions."
