Nick Cannon devastated by mental health diagnosis after having 12 children with 6 women: 'I need help'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nick Cannon is no stranger to grabbing headlines — whether it's for his Wild 'N Out antics, his busy career, or his famously big family (yep, 12 children with six women, including Mariah Carey and Bre Tiesi). But this time, the 44-year-old star is opening up about something way more personal: his mental health.
On his 'Counsel Culture' podcast, Nick dropped a bombshell - he’s been diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). He didn’t sugarcoat it, admitting to People: “I still don’t understand it all the way, but I kind of always wanted to get tested for it. I did a bunch of tests.”
NPD, according to the Mayo Clinic, is a condition where people have an inflated sense of self-importance and a big need for attention. It can also make it hard to connect with other people’s feelings. While it’s thought to be a lifelong condition, therapy can help manage the symptoms — and Nick is diving in headfirst.
Nick Cannon is embracing the journey of 'needing help'
Far from letting the diagnosis define him, Nick Cannon sees it as an opportunity. “I feel like there’s so many labels out there, but it’s like, to be able to embrace it and say, ‘Look, I’m healing. I need help. Show me,’” he said.
Therapy has become a big part of his life, and he’s not shy about encouraging others to seek help too. “I just embrace mental health and therapy in such a strong way,” he added.
Nick shared that he’s always suspected he might be wired a little differently. “I’ve been diagnosed with ADHD. Even as a kid, it was dyslexia, but just knowing that I’m just a neurodivergent individual, I kind of always knew,” he revealed.
On his podcast, Nick even had psychologist Dr Cheyenne Bryant on to help him better understand NPD. When she broke down the traits, Nick admitted that most of the "markers" described him to a T.
Nick Cannon serves Thanksgiving meals to those in need
In the middle of all this self-discovery, Nick Cannon found time to give back this Thanksgiving. He joined other stars like Magic Mike hunk Joe Manganiello and Vanderpump Rules alum Tom Sandoval at the Los Angeles Mission to serve meals to people in need.
The star-studded group handed out over 4,000 meals. They also gave away more than 2,000 pieces of clothing and hosted grooming sessions—think haircuts, manicures, and pedicures—for those in need.
It was a day of gratitude, but for Nick Thanksgiving is always a bit of a marathon. It's quite the affair with 12 children and multiple families to visit. “I’m a busy man,” he joked to People. “It’s very complicated.”
He also spilled the tea on what makes his Thanksgiving rounds so special: everyone has their signature dishes. “Some people got good sweet potato pie, some people got amazing fried turkey,” Nick said. “So I know every house that needs to have the things that I really like."

For Nick, however, his diagnosis is less about labels and more about growth. “To be able to say I’m an example for others, but also be healing during the self-process works too,” he said.
