Nick Jonas reveals 'frightening' flight experience with Glen Powell that left a pilot crying
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nick Jonas has opened up about a haunting air travel experience he faced with his friend Glen Powell that even left one of the pilots crying.
The 33-year-old singer shared about the incident during his appearance on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ on Friday, June 5.
Nick Jonas and Glen Powell face flight issue while returning from Vegas
In the episode titled ‘Nick Jonas and Glen Powell’s Harrowing Flight’, the co-host Mark Consuelos asked Jonas, “We’ve had Glen Powell on the show, he’s great. I hear you two are buddies, but were bonded through a harrowing experience on a flight.”
The musician confirmed the actor’s account before revealing, “So this is almost 10 years ago, probably. We were in Vegas together with a group of friends, and on the way home, the plane basically took off and then — I don’t know the technical term for it — but there was an issue with the power. Which is never a good thing, obviously.”
Nick Jonas says he and Glen Powell were fine after terrifying travel experience
Detailing further, Jonas jokingly mentioned that the episode happened before ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, in which Powell had played highly skilled and arrogant Lieutenant Jake "Hangman" Seresin.
“And this is pre-Top Gun: Maverick Glen Powell, so he was in flight training, but he couldn’t have landed the plane like he can now,” the father-of-one quipped as he added, “He was just regular old Glen Powell. So you know, had this happened a couple weeks ago, different story.”
Jonas, however, ended the story by asserting that though “it was a frightening experience”, they were fine after it.
Nick Jonas claims air travel was 'one of those experiences you never forget'
The hosts then went on to ask how the pilots of the plane reacted at the time, to which Jonas replied, “One of them was crying when we landed.”
“I was thinking, ‘OK, maybe it wasn’t as bad as I sort of felt like it was.’ And then I saw him crying. I was like, ‘Oh no, this was bad,’” he stated.
Ripa further asked the ‘Jealous’ singer if he saw any flight attendants looking nervous. “Yeah, they looked concerned. It was one of those experiences you never forget,” he noted.
Consuelos added during the episode that the experience must have deepened their friendship as Ripa said, “That’s called a trauma bond.”
Jonas admitted that’s what actually happened as he asserted, “That’s literally what that is. And you know, Glen’s the best. I think from that moment on, we’ve just built a great friendship.”
