NEW YORK, NEW YORK: Nickelodeon has created a lot of buzz online after announcing the result of the Kids Pick the President poll.

The media company declared the result on October 28, Monday, after voting took place from October 3 to October 23, and the cartoon-watching population of America chose Kamala Harris over Donald Trump, reported Daily Mail.

This poll is a way to encourage children in Nickelodeon's audience to become engaged in the political process, and partly for comedic value. Interestingly, the mock election that started in 1988 accurately predicted the winner each time, save for 2004 and 2016.

This year, more than 32,000 children participated in the poll virtually. But the Vice President’s win was not easy as she managed to get only 52 percent of the vote while her Republican rival got 48 percent.

As soon as the results of the poll were announced, people started commenting online. While some expressed happiness, others expressed skepticism over the results.

An X (formerly Twitter) user tweeted, “That’s great but 52% ONLY?”

Another user wrote, “I feel bad for the kids who are being influenced by their parents to support Trump. These kids will need therapy.”

“Seriously? 52%??? How is it not 92%??” an individual asked.

Another commented, “Something about those %s is concerning.”

A person on X shared, “They were probably scared that @KamalaHarris would arrest their parents and take them away if they didn't answer correctly.”

Another person remarked, “These kids had to be forced to vote by their parents. There's no way they're actually voting for her.”

“I know this isn’t meant to be taken seriously but 😭😭😭 this is not great,” a tweet read.

An X user posted, “Donald Trump should have won.”

“So there's 48% of parents out there indoctrinating their children with racism and hatred.  Our kids are going to have to deal with these people in the future,” another user suggested.

“That's why kids can't vote... Because they are easily tricked,” a tweet read.

Another user wrote, “You do realize that they're just kids and they're using this type of thing to learn about how elections work. STOP projecting adult nonsense onto little kids!”

“The other 48% is concerning,” a tweet added.

Kamala Harris says her policies will be different from Joe Biden’s

Meanwhile, the actual fate of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump will be decided after the US goes for election on November 5.

During an October 23 interview, the Democratic presidential nominee shared why she is a better candidate than former president Trump.

She also told NBC News' Hallie Jackson that if she becomes president, her government won’t “be a continuation of the Biden administration".

She continued, “I bring my own experiences, my own ideas to it, and it has informed a number of my areas of focus, most of which are on to your point, lowering costs."

“I have been traveling the country. I am very clear; the cost of groceries is still too high. The voters know it, I know it.”

Harris also asserted that “economists from Nobel laureates to Goldman Sachs have reviewed my economic plan versus Donald Trump’s, and in comparison, have found that my plans will strengthen America’s economy, his plans will weaken America’s economy".
