LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nicki Minaj’s company was penalized after the rapper failed to show up at a 2018 event, and then her company refused to pay back the deposit amount.

The British Virgin Islands-based concert promoter, BS Associated Company Limited, was awarded the win by the Los Angeles Superior Court against the ‘Bang Bang’ crooner’s Pink Personality firm.

Court ruled Minaj's firm to pay concert promoter $1.4M

Court documents obtained by RadarOnline show that BS Associates (BSA) was awarded $1.4 million from Pink Personality in arbitration.

BSA had filed a claim against Minaj’s firm back in 2018 over a deal where she had agreed to perform in China.

BSA claimed it paid the rapper’s company $1 million for the show, via Minaj’s agents at CAA. The money was held in an escrow account, per the lawsuit.

The promoter claimed that two weeks before the concert, for which Minaj didn’t show up, the rapper asked for $250K to be released from the escrow account.

Rapper fails to reschedule concert

BSA said they paid the amount but  Minaj failed to appear at the September 18, 2018, concert. BSA tried to reschedule the show.

Minaj was open to a new date, but wanted ‘additional funds’ to be released from the escrow account “as a show of good faith".

The concert promoter agreed and released another $250K, making it $500K in total, but still Minaj failed to reschedule the show.

After the hearing in court, BSA was awarded the full $1.4 million plus interest.

In November 2023, BSA reached out again to the Los Angeles Superior Court judge to confirm the arbitration award, in order to start collecting the money.

BSA in the recent filing confirmed that CAA returned the remaining $500k in the escrow account.

At the latest hearing, the judge awarded the company $974K and interest for a grand total of $1,063,414.

The 41-year-old rap superstar, who has been on her blockbuster 'Pink Friday 2' World Tour, was forced to pull out of the show at the Smoothie King Center due to a severe bout of the flu, as per Daily Mail.

"Nicki has been very sick with the flu for the last few days. She started getting sick last week and pulled through for the Rolling Loud festival show. Unfortunately, after the show, she found out she had the flu and only got worse," the source told the outlet.
