Nicolas Cage accused of 'enabling' son Weston amid assault charges involving his mother Christina Fulton
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nicolas Cage is facing accusations of "enabling" his son, Weston Cage Coppola, as the 34-year-old battles serious legal and personal issues, as per Daily Mail.
Weston, who has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly attacking his mother, Christina Fulton, during a mental health crisis in April 2024, pleaded not guilty in July 2024.
Christina Fulton's attorney accuses Nicolas Cage of 'enabling' son Weston Cage Coppola
On Friday, January 10, both Weston Cage Coppola and Christina Fulton appeared separately in a Los Angeles court, where the latter's attorney, Joseph Farzam, did not hold back his criticism of the 61-year-old 'Ghost Rider' actor.
"Nicolas Cage has enabled Weston his whole life. He is the way he is because he's been enabled," Farzam alleged in a video obtained by Daily Mail.
The attorney further accused Weston of using stalling tactics in his legal proceedings, stating, "The defendant is buying time to try and evade justice, and that's not going to happen. My client is here to make sure justice is done."
In a statement to People in July 2024, Christina opened up about the alleged assault.
She recounted, "On April 28th, 2024, around 5.30 pm, I received urgent messages from friends of my son, Weston Cage, regarding his deteriorating mental state, urging me to come help. When I arrived to offer support and console him, he was already in the midst of a manic rage. Within minutes, I was brutally assaulted and sustained serious injuries."
Despite her injuries, Christina pleaded with responding officers to detain Weston for a mental health evaluation, a request she claims was denied.
She concluded her statement by stating, "It is imperative that he receives the help he desperately needs."
Christina's attorney emphasized that her pursuit of justice is an act of tough love. "Essentially, as you can understand, my client was brutally assaulted. She's making sure he's held accountable so he'll never do this to anybody else," he stated.
Christina Fulton wants son Weston Cage Coppola to receive 'serious mental health help'
Joseph Farzam expressed confidence in the case against Weston Cage Coppola, saying, "Justice will get served, and she [Christina Fulton] will come here as many times as she needs to make sure that gets done."
He emphasized the need for Weston to receive "serious mental health help" and added, "If jail time is what it takes, so be it."
As the family’s struggles play out in the public eye, the allegations of enabling behavior by Nicolas add another layer of complexity.

While Nicolas has not publicly commented on the matter, the court proceedings and allegations have sparked intense debate about accountability, family dynamics, and mental health support.
Christina remains resolute in her pursuit of justice, determined to ensure her son gets the help he needs while holding him accountable for his actions.
"She fears for her life and she'll have no further contact with him," Farzam said of Christina.
Weston Cage Coppola's troubled past
This is not Weston Cage Coppola's first brush with the law. He was previously arrested in 2017 for DUI and a hit-and-run after crashing into multiple parked cars and a tree.
In 2011, he faced domestic violence charges during a dispute with his ex-wife, Nikki Williams, and was hospitalized on a psychiatric hold following a violent incident.
Christina, 57, has long expressed concern over her son’s mental health struggles, attributing some of his challenges to Nicolas' absence during his formative years.
Speaking to Inside Edition in 2011, she said, "I am the one that raised Weston. I am the one that took care of Weston. His dad was very busy out working as an actor."
The strained family dynamics have also extended to Weston's twin daughters, Venice and Cyress, born in 2020.
Nicolas nor Christina have yet to meet the twins, now four years old, due to an ongoing feud with Weston's third ex-wife, Hila Arounian.
In November 2023, Weston and Christina filed a lawsuit against Arounian, alleging embezzlement, defamation, and fraudulent restraining orders that prevented them from seeing the twins.
"It's devastating not to see these kids. Nicolas and I haven’t been able to meet our two beautiful little granddaughters at all since they were born. We’re in a quiet, horrible nightmare. It’s insane, painful, hurtful, devastating," the 'Lucinda's Spell' actress expressed.
