Nicole Kidman's 'stretched' earlobes spark concern among fans as experts weigh in on possible reasons
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nicole Kidman is a star who has been in the spotlight for decades.
Over the years, her look has changed many times, with some fans and critics claiming she’s undergone a variety of procedures.
Lately, the ‘Babygirl’ star’s earlobes have left her fans worried for her as they appeared “stretched”, as per the Daily Mail. Many shared their opinions online with most placing the strange change on plastic surgery.
Netizens say Nicole Kidman has ‘grandpa ears’
One Redditor said, “I haven't seen her in anything in awhile. Just started watching Lioness and I can't stop staring at her earlobes. Is this a plastic surgery mishap thing or have I never noticed that they hang super low?”
Another Redditor wrote, “I've noticed this too. She has grandpa ears 😭.”
“Just saw photos of her running on the beach, and yes, her earlobes are really low hanging, oddly,” the third one commented.
“She has too many cosmetics surgery,” an X user tweeted.
But the second user argued, “Age, that’s all.”
On Instagram Threads platform, a user shared, “Happens after a face/neck lift, calms down over time.”
One expert believes Nicole Kidman’s facelift surgery went wrong
Even cosmetic experts also weighed in on the possibility as plastic surgeon Mark Solomos, who appeared on Olivia Attwood’s ITV documentary ‘Price of Perfection’, blamed it on “a facelift,” as reported by the Daily Mail.
Solomos said, “The effect occurs when the earlobe is pulled downward, often revealing that a facelift has been performed,” as he also noted that this occurs mostly because of “poor surgical technique.”
“In an ideal facelift, the deeper structures of the face are tightened, allowing the skin to sit naturally without excessive tension. If this process isn’t done correctly, the earlobe can be displaced, creating the pixie ear effect,” he explained.
The doctor even mentioned that unlike earlier when “women in their 50s and older” used to go for facelifts, today the procedure is “now more openly discussed and accepted. In fact, there is a growing trend of individuals in their 40s opting for facelifts.”
“Additionally, as public awareness of cosmetic surgery grows, so does the ability to recognize signs of facelifts, particularly among celebrities. This shift reflects the evolving perception of cosmetic procedures as routine rather than taboo,” Solomos added.
Facials specialist claims ‘patients with thinner skin’ end up with stretched ears
Another facials specialist Dr Laura Geige told FEMAIL that “rather than allowing the deeper support structures of the face to bear the weight of the lift, some techniques pull primarily on the skin itself.”
Geige further elaborated that eventually, “this tension can cause the earlobe to become stretched, elongated, or appear directly attached to the lower cheek, losing its natural separation.”
“This complication is more common in patients with thinner skin or poor elasticity, as their tissue lacks the resilience to withstand excessive pulling. It can also be seen when facelifts are performed without sufficient structural support, or when too much skin is removed, leaving no room for natural movement and settling,” the cosmetic dermatologist added.
