Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev sought couples therapy due to his 'tone' before getting married

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev's marriage has been under scrutiny as the 42-year-old Russian dancer was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence before being released on $25k bail on Thursday, August 29, as per TMZ. 

Amid the turmoil, a 2021 episode of Kaitlyn Bristowe's podcast 'Off the Vine' has come to the forefront in which the 'Total Bellas' star revealed that when Chigvintsev "gets really stressed, he doesn't realize his tone."

She also revealed, "We're actually in therapy for this," as per People.

Identity of Artem Chigvintsev's victim has yet to be released

Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev, who met during Season 25 of 'Dancing With the Stars', which premiered in September 2017, got married on August 26, 2022. They share a four-year-old son, Matteo Artemovich. 

The 38-year-old 'Dancing with the Stars' pro dancer was arrested around 10 am on Thursday and booked in Napa County jail. He was released on bail after 2 pm. 

He was reportedly arrested under section 273.5(a) of the California penal code, which deals with domestic violence or corporal injury to a spouse, former spouse, cohabitant, former cohabitant, or the parents of his or her child,

It has been reported that Chigvintsev was the one who called 911 after hurting the alleged victim whose name hasn't been revealed.

But the Napa County Sheriff's Department said that they are providing the unnamed individual with "adequate time to deal with what unfolded before making the person talk more to detectives," as per ABC News.

Public Information Officer Henry Wofford shared, "I can’t say the victim didn’t need any medical assistance — that’s something that the victim would have to share. I wouldn’t say that they said it wasn’t necessary [to receive medical help], it may be the order that they wanted to go in," as per Page Six.

This came just a few days after Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev celebrated their second wedding anniversary.

Taking to Instagram, the former WWE star shared a video of their wedding day set to the song 'Can't Help Falling in Love'. The caption read, "This song is our love story. I’ll never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem. Having a conversation with He & God. How my feelings felt too soon."

She added, "It all felt too fast. And then this song came on. And that’s when I knew that I was falling in love with him and that it was all meant to be. 🙏🏼✨ Happy Anniversary @theartemc I love you!"

Chigvintsev also took to Instagram to share a sweet message for his wife. He wrote, "Happy anniversary my love, can’t see my life without you. You are my everything ❤️."
