Nikki Bella seeks privacy following husband Artem Chigvintsev's arrest for domestic abuse

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Former WWE star Nikki Bella is pleading for mercy following her husband Artem Chigvintsev's arrest on Thursday morning, August 29, for domestic abuse.

A representative for the 40-year-old former Divas Champion said on Friday to the New York Post, “This is a private matter, and Nikki asks for privacy for her and her family at this time.”

Furthermore, a source claimed to the site that the 42-year-old 'Dancing With the Stars' pro contacted 911 following the purported incident and then called back a few minutes later to request that the emergency services not be dispatched.

Nikki Bella, also known as Nikki Garcia, has not publicly discussed what transpired at the couple's Napa Valley residence, but just the day before, she was busy on social media, sharing Instagram Stories from her facial. The reality TV personality shared the words of Elvis Presley's song 'Can't Help Falling in Love', pausing to elucidate the song's significance.

“This song is our love story,” Garcia captioned her Instagram video. “I’ll never forget where I was when I asked Jesus about Artem. Having a conversation with He & God. How my feelings felt too soon. It all felt too fast. And then this song came on,” she added. “That’s when I knew that I was falling in love with him and that it was all meant to be.”

In addition, Chigvintsev gushed about his wife, calling Garcia his "everything." The 'West End' performer wrote, “Happy anniversary my love, can’t see my life with out [sic] you.”

When was Artem Chigvintsev arrested?

Just before 10 in the morning, Artem Chigvintsev was placed under arrest by the Napa County Sheriff's Department on a felony domestic violence complaint.

After his bail of $25,000 was granted, he was freed that afternoon, and a few hours later, his photo began to circulate online. Chigvintsev was described as 5 feet 9 inches and 175 pounds in the booking report.

An official from the Napa County Sheriff's Office informed TMZ that officers arrested someone on the spot after responding to a report of domestic abuse in the town of Yountville. There were apparently injuries sustained.

According to the sheriff's representative, the victim has requested complete confidentiality at this time because the investigation is still ongoing. It is yet unknown if Garcia took part in the reported altercation.

Following Chigvintsev's arrest, an insider provided Page Six with information regarding the Mirrorball champion's future in the ballroom, "There were no plans for Artem Chigvintsev to be a part of 'Dancing With the Stars,'" which will debut on ABC on September 17.
