WASHINGTON, DC: CNN’s debate, on Monday, May 4, over America’s military record took a sharp turn when conservative commentator Noah Rothman unloaded on progressive influencer Adam Mockler, accusing him of disrespecting the sacrifices of US troops.

Rothman’s fiery rebuke came after Mockler argued that decades of American intervention in the Middle East had left younger generations less secure, poorer and increasingly skeptical of the foreign policy establishment.

As Mockler laid out his case against what he called another “failing war,” Rothman initially listened before sharply cutting in.

Calling Mockler’s argument “immensely ungrateful,” Rothman said dismissing the military’s role in protecting Americans ignored the reality of what service members have prevented since the aftermath of the September 11 attacks.

“I think, honestly, Adam, that's immensely ungrateful to American service personnel and the people who keep us safe every day,” Rothman said, before pointing to attacks in Madrid and London as examples of threats the US managed to avoid on home soil.

He went on to argue that the removal of Saddam Hussein fundamentally changed Iraq’s role in global security, adding that critics who pretend Iran is not an active threat are “frankly dismissive” of what American forces confront every day.

Rothman closed his response by saying US personnel continue to absorb threats most Americans never see, insisting, “It’s just ungrateful to say that our service personnel are not keeping you safe, when they are.”

Adam Mockler claims 'Iran war is failing'

The confrontation began after Mockler delivered a lengthy critique of America’s post-9/11 wars, arguing that millennials and Gen Z have grown up watching one costly military campaign after another with little to show for it.

He cited the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as cautionary examples, saying both conflicts drained trillions of dollars while failing to make Americans safer.

“We are watching the same people who defended these first two failed wars go on television and defend another failed war. This war is failing.”

The exchange also came just days after Mockler’s separate viral on-air confrontation with Scott Jennings on CNN, where a heated war debate turned personal and Jennings snapped, telling Mockler to “get your hand out of my face” during a tense live segment.
