Internet slams Rashida Tlaib for urging Democrats to vote against Biden over support for Israel
DEARBORN, MICHIGAN: Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib urged Democrats in Michigan to vote against President Joe Biden in the state's forthcoming Democratic primary in protest over his handling of the Israel-Hamas war, reported New York Post.
"We feel completely neglected and just unseen by our government. If you want us to be louder, then come here and vote uncommitted," the Palestinian-American lawmaker said in a video posted on X by 'Listen to Michigan' on February 17.
'Listen to Michigan' is a campaign formed by more than 30 officials of the Great Lakes state who have vowed to vote 'uncommitted' in the state's Democratic primary on February 27 to demand the president support a ceasefire in the ongoing war as per CNN.
Michigan, a battleground state in the 2024 presidential election, is home to one of the largest populations of Arab Americans and Muslims.
Rashida Tlaib calls to create a voting bloc
The Michigan lawmaker representing parts of Detroit and its suburbs urged voters to stand in support of every life lost in Gaza. "It is important as you all know to not only march against the genocide, not only make sure that we're calling our members of Congress and local electeds and passing city resolutions all throughout our country," she continued in the video.
"It is also important to create a voting bloc," Tlaib said, adding, "Something that is a bullhorn to say, enough is enough. We don't want a country that supports wars and bombs and destruction. We want to support life. We want to stand up for every single life killed in Gaza."

According to Reuters, the overall Palestinian death toll has surpassed 28,000 since the war broke out on October 7, 2023.
Tlaib's support of Palestine and her anti-Israel rhetoric led the house to censure her on the grounds of promoting anti-semitism in November last year, as reported by Associated Press.
She was also widely criticized for voting against a bill that prevented Hamas terrorists from entering the United States.
