WASHINGTON, DC: A day after the bombshell DNC autopsy revealing that Biden allies did not properly support then-Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 presidential election, Democrats reportedly think that it would be a ‘bad idea’ to nominate Harris for the 2028 race.

According to a Vanity Fair report based on interviews with Democratic insiders, many people close to Kamala Harris are doubtful about a potential 2028 White House run.

Dems are largely doubtful about Harris’s 2028 prospects

A news report revealed mixed, though largely negative, reactions from allies of Kamala Harris over the prospect of her launching another White House bid in 2028.

For the report, Aidan McLaughlin, Washington correspondent for Vanity Fair, spoke with more than two dozen Harris campaign staffers, former White House aides, elected officials, political operatives, and major Democratic donors about the possibility of a 2028 presidential campaign by Harris.

“Aside from her own close advisers, none spoke enthusiastically about a Harris 2028 campaign. Many with careers in Democratic politics asked to remain anonymous. Some, after praising Harris on the record, asked to speak on background to give more candid opinions about her political future,” McLaughlin wrote.

After being asked about the possibility of Kamala Harris launching another presidential campaign following her 2024 loss to Donald Trump, one former Harris campaign adviser said, “It’s obviously a bad idea.”

Another former White House aide said Harris would “likely” run again, but made clear they did not support the idea of a second campaign.

When the former aide was asked whether Harris should make another White House bid, he said, “Absolutely not.”

Who wants Harris to run for 2028

“I have spoken to maybe one person out of a hundred who thinks she should run,” one former Harris advisor told Vanity Fair. “Whether it’s former campaign colleagues, people around DC, or just people around the country who are like, ‘Oh God, she’s not going to run again?’”

Billionaire Mark Cuban bluntly said “no” to another Harris run despite his past support for her 2024 campaign.

“I don’t think she should run for president,” a “top” Harris donor said.

“I have been all over the country for these midterms and I’ve not encountered anybody— anybody—who said, ‘Boy, I really hope Kamala runs,’” a veteran Democratic operative said.

Harris keeps the 2028 doors open

Many times, former Vice President Kamala Harris refused to rule out running for the White House in 2028.

During a public conversation at the National Action Network convention on Friday, April 10, Harris said that she is actively weighing whether to enter the 2028 presidential race.

Pressed on her political future by Al Sharpton, Harris didn’t dismiss the idea of running again; instead, she leaned into it.

“Listen, I might. I’m thinking about it,” she said, drawing applause from the crowd.

She reiterated the point moments later, adding, “I’m thinking about it. I’ll keep you posted.”

Harris framed her consideration in light of her experience at the highest levels of government, emphasizing her proximity to presidential decision-making during her tenure in the White House.
