WHITE BEAR LAKE, MINNESOTA: Authorities have shared an update on the devastating house fire that killed Jessi Pierce and her three young children, offering some early clarity while the investigation continues.

The fire, which broke out early Saturday, March 21, morning, has left the local community and the wider hockey world in shock as details slowly emerge.

Officials say no sign fire was set intentionally

In a statement released Monday, March 23, the White Bear Lake Fire Department said initial findings do not point to foul play.

According to the department, the cause of the fire at the family’s home on Richard Avenue is still under investigation, but “preliminary findings have not led to any evidence that the fire was set intentionally.”

The department emphasized that its focus remains on both the investigation and supporting those affected.

“Our priorities are, first and foremost, being present for those directly affected by this tragedy, conducting a thorough investigation, and ensuring our first responders involved in this incident heal alongside the community,” officials said.
