CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Oprah Winfrey stole the show on the third night of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) at the United Center in Chicago with her unexpected appearance.

The television icon left no stone unturned with her electrifying and powerful speech that took a direct swipe at Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance for his “childless cat ladies” remark.

Oprah Winfrey takes a dig at JD Vance in her DNC speech

Oprah Winfrey, renowned for her eloquence and unyielding stance on social issues, didn't hold back as she addressed the DNC crowd. Amid thunderous applause, she delivered a sharp retort to Donald Trump's running mate JD Vance's past criticism of the Democratic Party and presidential nominee Vice President Kamala Harris.

Oprah’s response was as witty as it was pointed. “We are not so different from our neighbors,” she began, her voice resonating with conviction. “When a house is on fire, we don’t ask about the homeowner’s race or religion. We don’t wonder who their partner is or how they voted."

"And if the place happens to belong to a childless cat lady — well, we try and get that cat out too.” The crowd erupted with cheers, clearly appreciating the deft way Winfrey turned Vance's insult into a moment of solidarity and humor.

JD Vance called Kamala Harris a 'childless cat lady'

In 2021, Senator JD Vance (R-Ohio) had infamously claimed that the Democratic party was run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made.”

“It’s just a basic fact. You look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC [Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez], the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children,” he said during an appearance on Fox News' 'Tucker Carlson Tonight'.

Oprah Winfrey says women’s rights are central in fight for freedom

Oprah Winfrey, who has kept a low profile in politics so far this election cycle, also took a moment to commend the powerful testimonies from women who had taken the stage earlier in the week to share their harrowing experiences with abortion restrictions.

"Now over the last couple of nights, we have all seen great people walk onto the stage and share their most private pain,” she said.

“They told us their stories of near-death experiences from having the state deny them the abortion that their doctor explained was medically necessary.”

Oprah urged viewers and fellow Democrats to maintain their belief in "the best of America" as the nation navigates through this era of deep political division, according to Yahoo! News

Echoing the concerns of other speakers, she also warned about the dangerous rhetoric coming from GOP presidential nominee Trump and far-right groups. “People who would have you believe that books are dangerous and assault rifles are safe,” Oprah added. “That there’s a right way to worship and a wrong way to love.”

Oprah faces backlash for DNC speech

Oprah Winfrey was slammed online for her fiery remarks at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, with critics taking to social media to voice their discontent.

"Says the richest childless cat lady," said one social media user.

"How is Hawaii," another asked.

"That ain't funny, that's just a cheap shoot," one person said.

"Be quiet Billionaire!!!" another tweeted.

"That one hit a lil too close to home," one individual wrote.

"Normal people don't burn down an island to buy it," another remarked.

"She's worth 3 billion dollars. I heard nothing about how she wants to help any of us achieve the same success. But let FREEDOM ring," penned one person.
