NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Hollywood actor John Leguizamo claimed that Latino Americans who support former President Donald Trump's bid for the White House wrongly blame incumbent Joe Biden for their economic worries, reported Fox News.

The liberal actor also shared that the economy of the United States was doing great while trying to explain the polling figures within the demographic during a recent interview.

A recent Axios/Ipsos showed Trump leading Biden 42% to 20% among Latino voters when asked if they were "good for the US economy." The demography also reportedly favored the presumptive GOP nominee's policies on immigration, crime, and public safety.

John Leguizamo's take on the economy and the Latino community

While sharing his take on why Trump was polling well with Latino voters, Leguizamo stated, "Because Latinos, they’re blaming him (Biden) for the economy, which they shouldn’t be because COVID was the culprit and Trump not handling COVID was the culprit in damaging our economy."

"But our economy is doing great," he continued. "It’s just inflation that’s messing up everybody’s paycheck. So, I understand that."

The Super Mario Bros star felt that the Democratic Party had to work harder to gather the support of the community, saying, "But also Latinos are not monolithic. Just like the Black community's not monolithic, just like White folks. You got to come at us from all kinds of different angles and you got to come for us."

"The Democrats messed up in 2020 and did nothing. They did not spend dollars on us, did not have Latin consultants, did not fund our grassroots organizations, and our grassroots organizations gave us Arizona. They tried to give us Texas and they got close."

"Florida was difficult, but Republicans spent money, assets. They came at us through WhatsApp in Arizona and Texas and Florida, went to our radio stations, Spanish-speaking stations, gave them the right trigger words. Democrats need to step it up, need to fund our grassroots organizations," he added.

Internet accused John Leguizamo of staying inside 'Hollywood bubble'

Responding to his comments, a user wrote on the social media platform X, "Says someone from the Hollywood bubble. They are so out of touch with reality it’s not funny."

"John doesn’t live in the real world," echoed another.

"Well he’s rich so there’s that," stated a third.

"They understand the economy, they likely just don’t support your candidate," slammed a fourth user.

"What planet is this guy from?" mockingly inquired a fifth.
