SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Tech mogul Elon Musk made a controversial statement following the second assassination attempt against former president Donald Trump on Sunday, September 15.

Musk took to his X (formerly Twitter) account asserting President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have never faced an assassination attempt.

The SpaceX CEO's tweet came as a reply to a user's question, "Why they want to kill Donald Trump?"

"And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala," Musk wrote with a thinking face emoji.

Ryan Routh, 58, the alleged would-be Trump assassin, was 300 to 500 yards away from Donald Trump holding an AK 47 and GoPro camera, as per the New York Post.

However, he could not open fire after being spotted by a Secret Service agent when he stuck the gun through the fence.

Routh immediately fled the site but was arrested shortly after.

Responding to the suspect's attempted assassination, his son Oran Routh claimed that his father despised Trump but was "not a violent person".

"He’s my dad, and all he’s had is a couple of traffic tickets, as far as I know,” the son told the Daily Mail.

“That’s crazy. I know my dad and love my dad, but that’s nothing like him."

Trump narrowly escaped a series of fatal gunshots two months ago during a rally in Pennsylvania. He sustained a minor injury to his ear after 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks fired shots at him on July 13.

A rallygoer was shot dead and two critically injured at the scene, and the shooter was also immediately shot and killed by a Secret Service sniper.

Musk had endorsed Trump following the first assassination attempt.

"I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery," the tech giant wrote on X along with a video of the former president being swarmed by Secret Service agents.

Internet blasts Elon Musk for post against Joe Biden and Kamala Harris

Netizens slammed Elon Musk for wondering why Joe Biden and Kamala Harris never faced an assassination attempt after a second attack against Donald Trump. Many accused him of inciting violence and said the Tesla CEO was "unhinged".

"Wait... This isn't a contest... This should not happen to anybody... That should be your stance..." a user said.

"This is vile and reckless. You know better, and that makes this all the more despicable," another user added.

"WOW. You've really lost your way. I hoped you might rise up and become a true leader who unites, but instead, you continue to divide. This is beyond the pale," added a third user.

"This is beyond irresponsible. Delete this and apologize," read a fourth response.

"This is such an inappropriate and morally wrong comment," someone else opined.

"Billionaire owner of a large platform trying to incite violence against a political figure is this not some type of crime?" an individual asked.

"Elon with the most unhinged, disgusting whataboutism tweet ever. X sucks," another user added.

"This is actually crazy. You’ve officially lost it dude and it’s sad to see. A lot of people look up to you but you’re being super irresponsible all because you crave attention," read one remark.
