Moreover, hours after being freed from prison, former Trump trade advisor Peter Navarro took the stage at the convention to raucous applause. He brought the discussion of the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol to the forefront of an event that had largely avoided referencing the incident, as per Dayton Daily News.

Without delay, Navarro launched an assault on the committee overseeing the probe and used his incarceration as a symbol of his allegiance to Trump.

He said, "The J6 committee demanded that I betray Donald John Trump to save my own skin. I refused."

His speech marked the first detailed discussion of the Capitol riot over the initial three days of the RNC, which had previously focused heavily on immigration, national security, and the economy.

Navarro told the crowd, "I went to prison so you won't have to. I am your wake-up call."

Meanwhile, When Abbott and Navarro were on stage, several people in the crowd raised signboards that read "mass deportation now," as if they were trying to send some message to the government.
