Outrage as Taylor Swift ranked 2nd on Billboard 'Greatest Pop Star' list: 'She should be #1 over Beyonce'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift’s fans were livid after the ‘Bad Blood’ singer was placed at the second position on Billboard’s "Greatest Pop Star of the 21st Century" list. 

While the outlet has been painstakingly releasing their list for months, Swifties were anticipating Swift to gain the crown. After all, not only does she have multiple number-one Billboard Hot 100 hits under her belt but is also fresh out of her record-breaking Eras Tour. 

Though Billboard has not officially announced the name of the coveted ‘Greatest Pop Star’ on the list, several social media users believed Beyonce would claim the top position. This, subsequently, ushered in an internet battle as the fans discussed the merit of giving Taylor Swift the second spot.

Taylor Swift, who has 12 "Number 1" hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, was given the second spot in the much-talked-about list, according to the outlet.

However, several Swifties were unimpressed with the ranking after anticipating the ‘Crazy in Love’ singer to occupy the first spot. 

One of the Swifties even compared the statistics, and said that while Swift has 12 Number 1 hits, Beyonce has nine, three less than the ‘Lavender Haze’ singer. 

While Swift occupied the second position, Rihanna was named in the third spot, Drake was ranked fourth, and Lady Gaga was fifth. 

Previously, there was an internet outrage over Britney Spears’ positioning as well as the ‘Oops…I Did It Again’ star was placed at Number 6 on the list.

Swifties were furious with the ranking as they claimed Taylor Swift deserved to be "#1" in Billboard's "Greatest Pop Star of the 21st Century" list. They speculated that Beyonce would be ranked No 1 as they took to social media to vent out their frustrations.

One Swiftie expressed their shock over the ranking and wrote, "????? Im sorry but Taylor deserves to be #1… wdym she has the highest grossing tour of all time and multiple best selling albums… this is a joke fr."

Someone else said, "Beyoncé number one is crazy cuz her stats don’t add up.. Taylor and Rihanna are way ahead of her in ALL fields but hey that Jay Z check cleared."

Another disgruntled fan slammed the 'Destiny's Child' star, saying, "Oh i need to know how much they paid billboard for this because taylor only being 2nd is EXTRAORDINARILY FISHY."

"Taylor is almost doubling all of her billboard entries & has had a bigger impact on the music industry than beyonce… she was robbed," complained another fan of the 'Cruel Summer' singer.

One Swiftie slammed the ranking and commented, "Ain’t no way they gonna give the #1 to Beyoncé."

Another fan remarked, "WHATTT SHE SHOULDVE BEEN #1 😭😭😭 her impact has been insane yet they give her this??"

"That's a fair enough decision if not the number one she can be placed in the second spot but in my honest opinion she deserved that number one spot," declared someone else.

Someone else asked, "Who’s number 1 then if not her?!"

"If we being honesty, she should be #1 over Beyoncé lol. Numbers wise," shared another.

One person noted, "Taylor's music was incredible, her impact in the music industry she deserves to be #1."

One internet user praised Beyonce and speculated she could be Number 1 on the list. They wrote, "Not a Beyonce Stan but you cannot deny the impact she’s had, she’s one of the best entertainers we’ve ever seen and she’s 99% one of your favourite pop stars influences. Beyonce deserved it."

"Beyonce has way more music industry impact than her set records for over 20 years so not surprising," another netizen said while supporting Beyonce.
