BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND: Ozzy Osbourne’s sisters have broken their silence about the emotional final moments they shared with the rock legend.

Jean Powell, 85, and Gillian Hemming, 80, revealed they are in shock, as they were hopeful of meeting their brother this week in his hometown of Birmingham.

Their final reunion with the Black Sabbath frontman took place in Birmingham during the band’s farewell concert, Back to the Beginning, at Villa Park in England, just weeks before his death on Tuesday, July 22.

“He was frail, but it still came as a shock,” Jean Powell told The Mirror, adding that she and her sister didn’t know the “details of his death,” but said she was “thankful he died in England.”

“I got a text from him as he drove down Lodge Road, where we used to live near the stadium,” she recalled of some of her final interactions with her younger brother.

“He said he couldn’t believe all the crowds were walking down our old street to watch him perform,” Powell said.

Recalling his performance at the show, she added, “It was upsetting because he could not stand up straight, but he was still our John, still cracking the jokes.”

Ozzy Osbourne’s family announced his death at age 76 on Tuesday, July 22.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," the family said in a statement. "He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

The sisters said they received a phone call informing them that their brother had died, according to the publication. He is the third sibling to have died out of six, with the sisters and their brother Paul remaining.

“To us, he was our brother, not a celebrity, so it’s crazy to see the outpouring of love since his death was announced,” Jean Powell said.

“We just can’t believe he is gone, and we won’t be getting another phone call or text from him. Every week without fail he would get in touch," she added.

Ozzy Osbourne’s sisters are 'proud as punch about him'

Ozzy Osbourne’s death comes after he performed his final concert with Black Sabbath in his hometown of Birmingham on July 5.

During the performance, he sat in a bat-themed throne after losing his ability to stand and walk due to Parkinson’s disease, which he was diagnosed with in 2003. Osbourne’s sisters said that their last time seeing him at the concert was brief but emotional.

“We had an executive box in the stadium, and when I saw the sea of people waiting to see our John, I just broke down,” Jean Powell told the publication.

“We didn’t really get a chance to chat much because it was such a chaotic visit. But in his last text to me, he said he would be coming to Birmingham again … We were hoping to see him this week," they revealed.

“We were proud as punch about him and everything he achieved,” Gillian Hemming said. “But it never went to his head. What the public saw of John was exactly what he was like in real life. It wasn’t an act … He was just great.”

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, and his six children. He shares three kids, Aimee, 41, Kelly, 40, and Jack, 39, with Sharon.
