The acclaimed actor was reportedly subjected to a 19-hour-long questioning session on Saturday concerning the allegations. He was subsequently released on Sunday.
Intriguingly, reports have emerged stating that Sun-kyun had cleared several drug tests before his apparent suicide in Seoul on Wednesday.
Incheon police have corroborated that the actor underwent numerous tests as part of the investigation into the illegal drug use allegations, all of which returned negative results.
Sun-Kyun reportedly accused of consuming marijuana
As reported by the South Korean media outlet Yonhap News, Sun-kyun was accused earlier this year by a club hostess in the Gangnam District of consuming marijuana and other illicit substances.
The actor refuted the allegations, asserting that he was duped into consuming the illegal drugs as part of a blackmail plot orchestrated by the hostess and another individual.
Before his suspected suicide on Wednesday, Sun-Kyun had initiated legal proceedings against his alleged blackmailer.
In connection with the drug investigation, Incheon police have reportedly apprehended a woman and a man.
"Actor Lee Sun-kyun passed away today," his agency, Hodu & U Entertainment, stated. "There is no way to contain the sorrow and devastated feelings."

Fans remember Sun-kyun as 'good' actor
Despite the media spotlight on the drug investigations and allegations against Sun-kyun, his fans continue to remember him as a 'good' actor.
