LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Patrick J Adams knew from the start that Meghan Markle was destined for 'Suits'.

Long before she became a duchess and global icon, Markle and Adams shared a great chemistry on screen. Markle played the character of Rachel Zane, Adams' character Mike Ross' love interest on the USA Network drama 'Suits' from 2011 to 2018.

Reflecting on their early days during a recent appearance on the 'Sidebar: A Suits Watch' podcast, Adams opened up about how their immediate chemistry stood out.

“It was pretty clear, if I remember correctly, that she was going to get the part [of Rachel Zane] from the minute we did the chemistry read,” Adams shared.

“It was just so much easier than it was with anybody else,” he said on the SiriusXM podcast.

Their instant rapport wasn’t surprising, as Patrick J Adams Adams and Meghan Markle had previously worked together on a failed pilot, 'Good Behavior'.

"The pilot failed," Adams said. "It was terrible and went away. And so we had never seen each other nor spoken to each other again."

Not until 'Suits' happened.

The actor fondly recalled, “When I went in to do the chemistry reads with [potential actresses for] Rachel, [Meghan] was right there and she said, ‘Hi'."

“And I went, ‘Oh my God, so good to see you!’”

Adams credits this familiarity with easing any nerves, helping their on-screen romance flow naturally.

“Just knowing each other and getting to calm down and not have those nerves of just getting to know one another really helped,” he claimed.

“It was just clear that we had an easygoing thing when we went into that room.”
