Patrick Mahomes' mom Randi weighs in on trans athlete debate, Internet says 'calling out the insanity'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Randi Mahomes — the mother of Patrick Mahomes — has shared her opinion on transgender athletes participating in women's sports.

She spoke on the 'MOMetize Your Passion' podcast with host Tirralan Watkin, where they discussed a recent incident that occurred earlier in June at a California high school sporting event. The incident reportedly involved a transgender track and field athlete winning events over biological girls, as reported by WFIN.

Randi Mahomes thinks it's not fair for trans athletes to compete in women's sports

When the host asked Mahomes about her stance, she responded, “Personally, from being a woman and a girl and doing co-ed teams throughout my life and just having fun in sports, there is a huge difference between male and female.”

“There is a huge difference, and as a female, I just think it’s not a fair matchup. A transgender, I am ok with, I understand, I love everyone. But when it comes to physical strength and, you know, just our DNA, I don’t think it’s fair,” she explained.

The mother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback also suggested that there should be a separate league for transgender athletes to “go to and have a fair game or activity. I just think there is a difference in DNA. I just think that women really need to be with women.”

Mahomes has previously shown support for Italian boxer Angela Carini.

"That is just my personal belief. Other places, you know, whatever — but I just think in sports and community settings, I don’t agree with it, simply because physically, women are not as strong as men," Mahomes added.

However, this was not the first time she expressed disagreement with trans athletes competing against women.

During the Paris Olympics, she showed support for Carini after her loss to Algeria's Imane Khelif, who had previously faced scrutiny following her disqualification from the 2023 Women’s World Championship for not passing testosterone and gender eligibility tests.
