LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brittany Mahomes took to Instagram to criticize her "haters," calling them immature adults, after receiving backlash for liking a Donald Trump post about his 2024 campaign platform.

The wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Brittany Mahomes, defended herself in an Instagram story on Friday, August 23, about ten days after liking a post from Donald Trump.

“I mean honestly,” Brittany Mahomes wrote in the story. “To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep-rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood."

“There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well,” she added.

Mahomes, 28, did not specify the exact reason behind the criticism, but her response appears to address the backlash she faced after liking a social media post by Donald Trump.

The Instagram post shared on August 13 outlined the "2024 GOP Platform," which included proposals such as deporting "pro-Hamas radicals" and banning men from participating in women's sports.

This post sparked an immediate backlash from Taylor Swift's fanbase, known as the "Swifties."

Mahomes' social media account did not display any criticism, indicating that she may have removed any negative comments from her posts, according to the New York Post.

It appears that Mahomes has since retracted her 'like' from the controversial post and was no longer following the Republican presidential nominee by Friday evening.

This social media episode follows just months after her NFL superstar husband, Patrick Mahomes, made headlines for choosing not to comment on the presidential race.

Brittany Mahomes receives backlash

Although Brittany Mahomes removed negative comments from her posts, she encountered significant backlash on X.

A user wrote, "Patrick Mahomes, imagine marrying someone who doesn’t care about your rights and your kid’s rights. Brittany Mahomes agreeing with Project 2025 but married to a black man with mixed kids is insane." [sic]

Another added, "Get back in line Brittany or your super tolerant liberal friends are going to rip you to shreds."

The third commentator remarked, "I feel like swifties aren’t talking enough about the fact that Brittany Mahomes just outed herself as a Trump supporter."

"brittany mahomes is so painfully stupid how do you go from being almost universally disliked to garnering the goodwill of swifties (!) just to s**t all that goodwill away? like this is the equivalent of fumbling a disney bag," One stated. [sic]

A person wrote after Mahomes' unliked the post, "Brittany Mahomes doesn’t have a backbone like her husband. She unliked the Trump post and caved to the liberals. My hate for her continues."

Another user chimed in, "brittany mahomes calling people haters as if the party/person (cheeto head) she supports doesn’t thrive on hate is such silly behavior."  [sic]
