New England Patriots fans boo Patrick Mahomes as he pays tribute to Tom Brady at his Hall of Fame induction ceremony

NORFOLK COUNTY, MASSACHUSETTS: Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes was welcomed with loud boos as he walked in at Tom Brady’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

The 28-year-old quarterback was present at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, along with other NFL giants.

Patrick Mahomes got booed by New England Patriots fans 

The New England Patriots fans expressed their emotions for Mahomes on Wednesday, June 12, with resounding boos.

“I just wanna say congrats to Tom on being inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame,” Mahomes told Brady, 46, in his tribute video as the crowd started booing, reports People.

“It’s well-deserved, man. I appreciate all the advice you've given me, and especially the advice you gave me after y'all beat us in the AFC championship game.That put the stamp on all the hard work I've been putting in. Congrats again, man,” he continued.

Many suggested that the booing was triggered by reports that Mahomes is eyeing the unofficial title of 'GOAT' which is proudly held by Brady with seven Super Bowl wins to his name.

Interestingly, Mahomes won his third Super Bowl title a few months back with his team.

Patrick Mahomes is not competing with Tom Brady

In his interview with SI in 2023, Mahomes responded to competition with Brady saying, “Yeah, I hear it. To me, it's always going to be tough because Brady beat me in the Super Bowl."

However, he added, "If you ask me that question in 15 years, I’ll see if I can get close to seven, but seven seems like a long way away still."

It was not just Mahomes who was bashed by Patriots fans, but stars like Eli Manning and Michael Strahan were also showered with boos. 

Brady became the 35th Patriots player to be inducted into the New England team’s Hall of Fame.

In his speech, the legendary quarterback said he was "overwhelmed with gratitude and a deep sense of honor."

"Relationships are built on shared experience, and the most meaningful things in my life are my relationships.I truly wish I had more time; I wish I had more time to give you all," Brady added.

"So, how do I sum up two decades in New England in one short speech? The answer is simple: You can'." the 46-year-old further said.
