Harrison Butker 'immediately ran' to help BJ Thompson during seizure, says Kansas City Chiefs trainer

The Kansas City Chiefs star was the first to react and help his teammate BJ Thompson when he had a seizure during a team meeting on Thursday, June 6.

Giving an update on the defensive lineman's health, the Chiefs Vice President of Sports Medicine and Performance Rick Burkholder said, "When he had the seizure, Butker immediately ran towards the training room" and grabbed additional assistance from team staff.
"As a team, we tried to stabilize BJ and then put him on the floor while he was still seizing and then he went into cardiac arrest," he added.
The 25-year-old was given an automated external defibrillator (AED) shock, Burkholder informed, and Thompson’s cardiac arrest lasted only a minute, reports People.

Chiefs safety Justin Reid also talked about Butker’s proactiveness, "Harrison's that guy, he loves all of us and we're a family.”
"This is so much deeper than just football. We root for each other and in a moment like that you just have to call yourself into action and Harrison did that," Reid said.
Coach Andy Reid also appreciated the medical team and commented, "They had it under control."
Butker was in the news for making a controversial commencement at Benedictine College's graduation ceremony on May 11.
His teammates Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce said they don’t agree with some of the Butker’s comments on women but added the kicker is a "great teammate and great person."
