SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: Taylor Swift and her partner Travis Kelce were spotted together in Australia re-uniting for the first time after the Super Bowl victory party, enjoying a low-key date at the Sydney Zoo.

Their excursion sparked controversy as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) expressed discontent in a statement. However, the couple found support from social media users once more, with many criticizing PETA for its statement.

Attention on Travis and Swift escalated recently when Ed Kelce, father of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, voiced concerns about the couple's relationship. Given the significant fan bases of both individuals, Ed expressed apprehension about the challenges their romance might encounter in the public eye.

In a recent interview, Travis received overwhelming support from Swift's devoted fanbase, affectionately known as the Swifties.

Speaking with sports reporter Laura Okmin, Travis emphasized his focus on his career but acknowledged the heightened attention on his personal life since beginning his relationship with Swift last summer. He affirmed their relationship is unique and "special" to him.

PETA criticizes Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's zoo date

According to the Daily Mail, PETA has criticized singer Swift and Travis for their visit to Sydney Zoo, urging them to support true sanctuaries instead. The animal rights organization released a statement to TMZ, expressing disappointment in the couple's choice of leisure activity.

Swift and Travis were spotted at Sydney Zoo earlier this week, enjoying a date ahead of Swift's three concerts in the city.

They were even seen interacting with a kangaroo, prompting a response from Debbie Metzler, Director of Captive Animal Welfare at the PETA Foundation.

Metzler voiced her concerns to TMZ, stating, "While we understand all too well the appeal of seeing Australia's wildlife, PETA hopes that next time Taylor and Travis want to see wild animals, they'll spend their time and money at a true sanctuary."

In the statement, Metzler emphasized that sanctuaries prioritize the well-being of animals by prohibiting direct contact or feeding, unlike zoos where such interactions are allowed.

The Daily Mail reported that Swift and Travis were seen feeding a baby kangaroo in a video circulating online, which contradicts PETA's stance on not feeding zoo animals.

This sparked criticism from social media users on platforms like Facebook, who questioned PETA's criticism of the couple's date.

Internet users assert PETA should 'leave' Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce alone

A user wrote, "Just leave them alone and let them enjoy their time together wherever they want and however they want."

Another user wrote, "I think they have a right to go to the zoo if they want! People need to chill out!!"

A user called out to PETA to find something better to do and wrote, "The people at PETA need to find something better to do."

A user commented, "Peta are [sic] way too extreme..they refuse to grasp the other side of some situations. Zoos used to be solely for entertainment..now most of them, including those in Sydney, are there for the purpose of raising awareness and funds for protection and conservation. And in an increasingly digital world, I cannot see that as detrimental to animals and wildlife."

Another user commented, "I’m sorry but PETA would have to be mad at me because if I ever get the chance to interact with a kangaroo.. I’m doing it!"
