Pharrell Williams' pre-Paris Olympics party gatecrashed by PETA protesters over his 'fashion choice'
PARIS, FRANCE: Pharrell Williams was confronted by concerned PETA supporters at the Paris Olympics bash!
The multiple Grammy winner was hosting a party for Louis Vuitton at their Paris headquarters on Thursday night, July 25. Suddenly two animal-rights supporters gatecrashed and asked the singer-designer to end his use of animal skins in his products.
What did PETA say on gatecrashing Pharrell Williams' party?
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) vice president of corporate projects, Yvonne Taylor, slammed the ‘Happy’ crooner, "While Pharrell lives it up at celeb-filled soirees, the vulnerable animals sentenced to die for his 'fashion' choices languish in pain and filth on factory farms and at slaughterhouses, where they'll be hacked to bits or skinned alive."
"PETA is calling on Pharrell to stop being complicit in cruelty and help pull Louis Vuitton out of the dark ages by shunning the antiquated use of animal skins and fur," she added.
They brandished signs reading, "Pharrell: Stop Killing Animals for Fashion", and the demonstrators were quickly taken off the premises by security personnel.
The party by the Louis Vuitton Foundation, was attended by stars like Charlize Theron, Snoop Dogg, Zendaya, and Serena Williams.
Pharrell has been Louis Vuitton's men's creative director since 2023 and has been under PETA’s radar when he earlier designed a $1 million bespoke crocodile-skin handbag, reported Mirror.
"PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that 'animals are not ours to wear' – opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview," read their website.
