Phil Robertson thanks fans for 'overwhelming' support amid Alzheimer’s diagnosis: 'Fought the good fight'
WEST MONROE, LOUISIANA: 'Duck Dynasty' star Phil Robertson has expressed gratitude for the support of his fans after the news of his Alzheimer's diagnosis came out, Blaze Media reported on Tuesday, December 10.
Fans were wondering about Phil's whereabouts after he stopped appearing on the 'Unashamed' podcast. While his sons initially stated that he was under the weather, they revealed in an episode over the weekend that the 'Duck Commander' has "some sort of blood disease that's causing all kinds of problems” and is in “early stages of Alzheimer’s."
Phil Robertson grateful for wishes of his fans
Since the revelation, fans have shared their well wishes for Phil, as well as expressed how important he was to them. Many considered him to be a spiritual leader, stating that they learned more about Jesus and the Bible from him than at any church.
“The outpouring of love, of support, of prayer just is ... it's almost been overwhelming for me,” said his son Alan Robertson. “Once my phone started going off, it pretty much hasn't stopped for the last 72 hours."
He shared how grateful his father was for the prayers and wishes received, saying, "Dad's famously not connected to tech, but he does love to hear that out there in ‘computer land,’ as he puts it, there are people that are expressing their love and their appreciation for everything that he's meant to them in their lives."
As a message from the family, Alan read the Bible verses 2 Timothy 4:7-8, which said, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
