The team secured its championship with a dominant 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX last month.

On Monday, March 11, an official invitation was sent to the NFL champions, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

“We sent the invite, and they enthusiastically accepted " a White House official told the publication.

“We are working with them to determine a date and logistics," the representative added.

Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson had previously stated that the decision on attending the White House would be made by the team.

“I’d be honored to go, regardless of who the president is, but we’ll see. It’s ultimately a team decision. I’ll do what’s best for the team,” Johnson said last month, reported Sportico.

Eagles had skipped Donald Trump’s White House invite in 2018

The team’s 2025 decision to visit the White House contrasts with its response in 2018, when the Eagles declined to celebrate the win with then-President Donald Trump, as per CNN.

Trump later disinvited them upon learning that most players planned to boycott the visit.

Trump had, at times, had a frosty relationship with the NFL and its players during his first term.

The visit has long been a tradition dating back to 1980, where Super Bowl-winning teams are invited to meet the sitting president.

This year, the Eagles had already indicated on February 24 that they would accept an invitation from Trump if extended despite some reports suggesting that they had declined the offer.

Trump confirmed the following day, stating, “Absolutely they’ll be extended that invitation,” according to USA Today.

Trump also became the first United States president to attend a Super Bowl LIX although he had expressed his support for Kansas City Chiefs.

Internet reacts to Eagles accepting Donald Trump's visit to White House

Fans reacted strongly to the Eagles’ decision, with some expressing disappointment.

“Disappointing. Especially since it was reported on last month that they will not be going,” one Instagram user wrote.

“Well when the rumor was they declined, I gave them ultimate respect. Now….?? Not so much,” another commented.

“How can you win the Super Bowl and still lose the respect,” one more criticized.

Others speculated about the team’s choice. “They SOLD OUT. Trump prob offered them money,” one user wrote.

“I would bet that it will not be the entire team,” another predicted.

Some defended the Eagles’ decision, arguing that visiting the White House is an honor.

“Come on they won the Super Bowl and it is a high compliment to visit the White House, no matter who is president,” a user stated.
