Fans speculate about Blake Lively saga being the reason why Taylor Swift skipped 2025 AMAs

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Taylor Swift’s absence from the American Music Awards (AMAs) on Monday, May 26, has led to many speculations among her fans and netizens.
The 35-year-old singer had received six nominations for her album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ at this year’s ceremony.
To date, she has won 40 AMAs, making her the artist with the most awards.
Insider says Taylor Swift avoided the AMAs because of Blake Lively saga
Swifties hoped for a surprise announcement of her long-awaited Reputation (Taylor’s Version) album at the Las Vegas awards show, but were left disappointed when the 'Shake It Off' singer didn’t appear.
Many believe Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s ongoing legal battle is the actual reason behind her absence.

Swift’s name was also mentioned in the lawsuit filed by Baldoni and she was even subpoenaed by his team. However, the subpoena was later dropped by the court.
A tipster told the Daily Mail, “She avoided the AMAs because she didn’t want to deal with 1000s of questions about the Blake Lively saga. It is all anyone wants to talk about, and Taylor is really tired of it.”
Taylor Swift did not win any awards at AMAs 2025
Another round of theories that originated on social media was that despite nominations in six categories, including artist of the year, album of the year and favourite touring artist, Swift did not win any this year.
However, there shouldn't be much concern about the singer skipping the AMAs since she has only attended two major events this year so far – the Grammys and the Super Bowl.
The singer also gave iHeartRadio Music Awards and Billboard Music Awards a miss, even though she won some awards.
Taylor Swift snubbed by Trump
One of more far-fetched theories about Swift's absence and not winning any awards also involves US President Donald Trump.
Swift and the current president do not share an amicable relationship, with the commander-in-chief recently writing on Truth Social, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’”
Some social media sleuths speculated that because Swift was called out by Trump and given the history between them, it could possibly be a reason why she did not win any awards.
Putting these rumors to rest, a spokesperson for the American Music Awards in an email stated: "The American Music Awards is a fan voted show. The winners are determined by the fans alone, and the entire voting process, including tabulation and verification, is managed by a third-party independent company."
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are spending time together
There is one more theory behind the ‘Cruel Summer’ hitmaker’s absence.

After the gruelling Eras tour, she and her boyfriend Travis Kelce are believed to be taking it easy and spending time together.
Apart from this, rumors are also swirling that the lovebirds will get engaged soon.
An insider said, as per StyleCaster, “Everyone is just waiting for Travis to ask her parents for her hand in marriage, her parents will say yes, and they can’t wait for them to get engaged.”
The source added, “Nothing seems to be imminent, but it will 100 percent happen. Taylor and Travis are treating this relationship as their last relationship, and when they get engaged, when they get married and when they start a family, it will be exactly when it is meant to happen.
Correction: This story has been updated as an earlier version of this story quoted an unverfied social media post that falsely claimed "Billboard Magazine is owned by Penske Media Corp, by Jay Penske who also donated a million dollars to MAGA.” This is incorrect. The AMAs event is produced by Dick Clark Productions which is owned by Penske Media Corporation. Penske Media Corporation and Penske Corp are separate entities. Those donations came from the Penske Corp and not Penske Media Corporation.
