Pramila Jayapal slams Trump for 'creating a crisis' and declaring victory over 'fragile' ceasefire
WASHINGTON, DC: After President Donald Trump announced a two-week temporary ceasefire with Iran in exchange for unblocking the Strait of Hormuz, Democratic Rep Pramila Jayapal (D-MN) rebuked the commander-in-chief for calling the truce a victory.
Trump announced the ceasefire on Tuesday, April 7, suspending the planned strike on Iran after intensified diplomatic efforts following talks with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The cycle never changes. Donald Trump creates a crisis, tells you he solved it, reverses course, and then declares victory.

Pramila Jayapal slams Trump over 'illegal war' in Iran
Sharing a post on X (formerly Twitter), Jayapal slammed Trump, writing, “The cycle never changes. Donald Trump creates a crisis, tells you he solved it, reverses course, and then declares victory.”
“He started an illegal war, threatened to destroy a civilization, called a ceasefire that appears fragile at best, and wants us to celebrate him,” she added.
“We've seen this before – and we're not fooled,” the Minnesota politician concluded.
Create unnecessary chaos, terrify the world, then walk it back and take a bow. Give me a break.

Donald Trump isn’t a peacemaker. He’s a sick, unstable, unfit man who manufactured a crisis and is now trying to sell us the resolution.

In another post, she called for the president's impeachment, writing, "Create unnecessary chaos, terrify the world, then walk it back and take a bow. Give me a break. Donald Trump isn’t a peacemaker. He’s a sick, unstable, unfit man who manufactured a crisis and is now trying to sell us the resolution."
"The people aren’t fooled and Congress shouldn’t be either. Impeach him – now," she added.
Trump announces two-week ceasefire with Iran hours before deadline
The two-week ceasefire was announced just hours before Tuesday's deadline of planned strikes on power plants and bridges. The ceasefire came after a 10-point peace proposal from Iran, which Trump defined as a “workable basis” for a broader peace agreement.
Israel has also agreed to suspend its bombing campaign in Iran as part of a last-minute deal reached between Tehran and Trump.
Trump said he agreed to delay the “bombing and attack of Iran” after discussions with Sharif and Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, who urged restraint while negotiations continue.
“This will be a double-sided ceasefire! The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning long-term peace with Iran, and peace in the Middle East,” the White House posted.
