Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s awkward PDA sparks social media buzz at charity event

SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle turned heads when they appeared together at the One805LIVE! Festival on Saturday, September 20.

The celebrity-packed charity concert, hosted at Kevin Costner’s oceanside estate, quickly caught attention on social media—not just for its A-list guests, but also for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s behavior and public display of affection.

Some users, however, found Meghan’s behavior “clingy” and thought Prince Harry looked uncomfortable.

In a moment captured on video and widely shared online, Prince Harry was presenting the Heart of Community Award when Meghan suddenly walked on stage.

“Oh hi, hi, hi, hi,” Harry said, appearing surprised before turning back to the audience.

Meghan then paused awkwardly, seemingly unsure what to do, before stepping back to the side of the stage.

While some fans admired their affectionate moment, others mocked it, suggesting Harry looked uneasy.

Social media users had plenty to say about the awkward body language between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

"Harry caught off guard? He flinched and instinctively leaned back away from Megsy. The look in his eyes even after he realized it was her. He did not look too happy. Megsy's knuckles might be why..." one wrote with a lengthy caption. 

One person commented, "Wonder how many times he’s said ‘will you just leave me alone for 5 minutes."

Another X user shared a video of Prince Harry and Meghan's interaction at the event and speculated something was off as they wrote, "This is the first joint public appearance #HarryandMeghan have made in over 5 months. That makes a lot sense when you look closely at how they interact-it’s performative, even more so than usual-they don’t even look at each other."

Others added, "The claw. She is clinging to H now that King Charles was foolish enough to reconnect. We haven’t see them together publically in forever."

Another quipped, "How very cringe and high school. You know every person in the crowd snickered."

But not everyone agreed with the criticism. Supporters, however, pushed back. Many praised the couple for their affection and called the criticism unfair. One fan shared, "Lovebirds. Meghan wore a midnight-blue sleeveless shirtdress by Carolina Herrera, as per Page Six. featuring oversized patch pockets, statement buttons, and a waist-cinching sash. She paired it with tan Ralph Lauren heels, a raffia top-handle bag, gold bracelets, and a Cartier Tank Francaise watch.

Harry, on the other hand, kept it low-key and effortless in a dark jacket, trousers, and a simple shirt. Together, they nailed the color coordination, matching and complementing each other without taking away from one another’s shine and confidence.
