Prince Harry and Prince William may face potential reunion at uncle's funeral
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The possibility of a reunion between Prince Harry and Prince William has sparked a lot of excitement on social media. The brothers have been distant since 2018 after Harry married Meghan Markle.
In his 2023 memoir 'Spare,' Prince Harry detailed several conflicts with Prince William, including a physical altercation involving Meghan Markle.
As a result of their strained relationship with the royal family, Harry and Meghan stepped back from their senior royal roles in January 2020 and relocated to the United States.
Will Prince Harry and Prince William reunite?
Prince Harry and Prince William are anticipated to reunite at the funeral of their late uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, despite their ongoing feud.
Lord Robert, who passed away at 82 on July 29, was married to Princess Diana’s sister, Jane Fellowes (nee Spencer). He served as Queen Elizabeth’s private secretary from 1990 to 1999.
Both Harry, 39, and William, 42, are expected to attend the funeral. Jane, 67, has a close bond with her nephews and even gave a reading at Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in 2018.
A former friend of Harry’s said, “The death will be a huge blow to the Spencer family. In normal times it would be unimaginable that Harry would not be there to support Jane. Of course, he would want to be there.”
However, the source added, “It will be a huge gathering of the Spencer clan. But these are not normal times and it may well be that everyone feels Harry’s attendance would just create too much drama. It will be very sad for him if he can’t make it.”
Representatives for Harry have not yet confirmed whether he will attend the funeral.
An insider told In Touch in June, “William hasn’t forgiven Harry for what he said in his book.” They added that despite Harry’s calm appearance through the family drama, he is deeply frustrated by being “treated like a pariah when all he tried to do was protect his family.”
The source also mentioned that Meghan has pointed out that the royal family’s treatment of Harry is a key reason she wanted to leave.
“She reminds him how unhappy he was in the UK and how they have so much to be grateful for now. She doesn’t spend a lot of time looking backward. She’s focused on the present and thinks he should be too,” the source stated.
Recently, 'The King' author Christopher Andersen claimed that Prince William has no plans to mend his rift with Prince Harry, despite the health challenges faced by Princess Kate Middleton and King Charles III.
Charles, 75, revealed his cancer diagnosis in February, while Kate, 42, disclosed her own health issues in March.
“I have been saying this for months now – William pulled up the drawbridge and is not about to let it down for Harry anytime soon,” Andersen, 75, stated on July 23. “William not only expects loyalty from his brother on a very personal level, but he commands respect as the heir to the throne.”
