Prince William used movie-themed pseudonyms to 'whisk Kate Middleton away' for romantic hotel getaways
LONDON, UK: To avoid unwanted attention, Prince William and Kate Middleton reportedly chose multiple fake names during the early days of their romance.
The now husband and wife reportedly met each other in college and soon began dating each other. But keeping their relationship private was not an easy thing for them.
Kate Middleton and Prince William ‘occasionally checked into hotels’ while in college
Royal biographer, Robert Jobson, in his book ‘Catherine, the Princess of Wales: The Biography’, said, as reported by The Mirror, “Among the student community, it was an open secret that they were a couple: they could often be seen walking or cycling to lectures or browsing the aisles of the local Safeway.”
The author further revealed, “For weekends and holidays, he'd often whisk Catherine off to Highgrove or Sandringham or to a cottage on the Balmoral estate.
“Occasionally they checked into hotels, using the names Mr and Mrs Smith — which doubtless fooled no one.”
Not only that, the future King also opted for a pseudonym during his undergraduate life at St Andrews.
Kate Middleton and Prince William chose names like ‘Martin and Rose Middleton’
Robert Jobson shared, “In 2001, William quietly slipped into undergraduate life at St Andrews, where he used the pseudonym 'Steve' in a rather pathetic attempt to stay under the radar.”
Also, according to the book ‘William & Catherine: A Royal Wedding’ by Andrew Morton when the duo went on a vacation to Seychelles in 2007, they used “the assumed names of Martin and Rose Middleton”.
PEOPLE citing Marcia Moody’s book ‘Kate’ reported that during that trip, William and Kate decided that “for the next few years, they would work and enjoy their lives, knowing that at some point when the time was right, they would be husband and wife.”
In 2011, the duo exchanged their vows and eventually welcomed three children together.
